NIT

SJU Sports Info hypes the hell out of our bb team. Most athletic team in the country.
Too much drama on this team. It's like Entertainment Tonite. Something every day !!
Shame ! SJU fans are very supportive ( the ones that are left ) and deserve more. We are paralleling
the NY Mets.
 
Truth be told nobody cares or remembers if a team looses in the first round of the NCAA either. I remember they won the NIT once ,I think w Zendon Hamilton, and the following year made the elite 8.

You must be thinking about the 1989 NIT when we won it with Sealy and Werdann and two years later reached the Elite 8.
Never won a NIT/NCAA game with Zendon.

that year was my freshman year at St Johns. We were actually excited because the kids were freshman also and you just knew better things were on the horizon

As my dad puts it, this team reads their own press clippings too much. They hear all this talk about how great they are, and they believe it although they haven't accomplished anything significant yet.
 
Look. I'm disappointed we didn't make the NCAA, just like everyone else. But if it means I get to keep watching this team, I'm all for going to the NIT. They're like the little girl with the curl. She's good when she's good and she's bad when she's bad. But this is our team and I support them to the end of the NIT.
 
Amen , my thoughts exactly SJU65. i've been going to games since late 1961 and we have had ups and downs since then on many occasions but I never decided that my being upset would stop me from attending the next st. johns game . this is my first love in sports and will always be that for me and i'm sure a lot of you guys feel the same about St. Johns basketball.

I'm with both of you. Always support the team, and the program. Even though I thought Norm was kept around too long, I kept rooting for him to prove me wrong.

So, speaking only for myself, I have no problem with supporting an NIT run.
