He is perplexing...obviously has tools but just hasn't improved in areas that needed development (shooting) and isn't really at excelling in areas that would seem such a natural fit for him (driving, on ball defense)...I've said this before...I believe he sees his role as the guy who has to make something happen on defense (rather than stopping something from happening) and as a result looks for nothing but steals and blocks...there was a play during the Providence game when we needed a stop when it almost looked like he invited the offensive player to drive past him so he could go for the block...may be my imagination but seemed like he stepped to the side and created an open lane...I think he may have gotten the block but still...very puzzling...as I said, he has tools but needs to make some changesIf they couldn't get up for Xavier or Providence...the two most important games of the season...then what makes anyone think they'll be more than one and done in the NIT?
I'd rather be spared the embarassment.
I would tend to agree.
We will win a game. Someone will hit a big shot like last year and everyone will scream improvement.
Player will then come back this year and be arguably worse than ever before
If I was Dom I wouldn't read these boards of the next couple months. Someone has fallen from grace really quickly, and deservedly so. What a brutal season for him.
I root hard for the guy, but man it's hard to think he hasn't regressed.
Is there any remedy for Dom? Is he not given the coaching he needs or is the coaching he gets not connecting ? I am a Celtics fan since 1957 and when I see a player like Dom stuck, My memories of Sam Jones raise the question of could this player do better as a bank shooter?
