NIL’s

Question -for those who know how it works

If a coach offers a player, and player is interested but wants to know NIL $, does school basically put them in touch with an NIL group ( like Storm Marketing) and then whomever at this NIL group is determining how many $ they will make available, and then player either accepts or declines both the NIL (and then offer from coach)?

Basically, yes. The school can’t pay players directly but they set them up with a third party who pays the player to play at that school. Now it was originally intended to allow players to make money like on jersey sales, autographs and brand endorsements but it very quickly turned to people and brands working directly with schools to pay players. That’s what happens when the NCAA is running things.

Thanks... was just wondering how much negotiating actually takes place, or is it a take it or leave it type offer...

In some cases, people may donate to a group (like Storm Marketing) but then its up to those running it to determine who, and how much who gets offered?

Companies like Storm Marketing I’m not too sure about. But when it comes to recruiting and getting players to commit to your school, it is a bidding war.

Hi SJU14, I have a question::

Would Mike Repole get directly involved, or would it be a Mike Repole-sponsored org that would negotiate with the recruit's 'people'?

Basically the Power conferences have become the new G-League.
And the only thing standing in the way of the same irrelevance is time…School affiliation will afford those in charge some time to get NIL course corrected…If it isn‘t brought back to what it was intended to be and continues to become more like a minor league - it will be over…

Wow, I guess she didn't have to stop doing what she was doing after all. Bunch of angry old guys on social media kept repeating the same line that she'd be working at McDonald's soon, but there's a way better chance of her being in a McDonald's commercial at this point.
