Next Coach?

A decision, one way or the other, should be made right after the season
Lavin should not be brought back as a lame duck coach
Either extend him or let him go this spring

If there has been no serious look into who is available and willing to come for the money the school is willing to spend, then just extend Lavin. At least he gets us into the discussion with top 50 recruits.

Getting us into the discussion is one thing
Landing them is another
If he pulls a rabbit out of the hat and lands a strong class, give him a 2-3 year extension
If not, pull the plug
For the same salary, we can do much better IMO

Are we satisfied with this season -- 20 or so wins, not a factor to win the BE, a middling seed in the Dance followed by a one and done?

Because that is the best we will ever do with Steve Lavin as our coach.

I don't think there's any grey area here...if Lav gets an extension, SJ is not committed to a nationally relevant basketball program.

Absolutely, 5 years is enough. Not one post season win in that time. 0-7. He was given a chance and did not get it done. Period.

A) drunk

B ) has had his computer hacked

C) was waiting till the end of the season to let loose about Lavin
 
Several of my friends are Puke fans or Cuse and they asked me why St.Johns is so bad. I told them that Lavin can't recruit or coach. I made a promise that if he doesn't resign or get fired that I wouldn't watch one game next year. I will stick to my word. Lavin is terrible as we all know and my patience is over.
 
Time to move on from Lavin. Aggressive hire needed. I just can't stand this style of basketball.

So many emotions I'm feeling this evening. I'm literally at the point where i don't care whether he comes back or not. If he comes back its likely going to be 3 years before we see the NCAAs again. If we bring in someone else it's likely going to be 3 years before we see the NCAAs again.
 
I am not sure he wants to be here anymore. Just a feeling I get watching him. Based off nothing really. I doubt we get an upgrade, I am ok either way I guess. Made the tourney twice, during Norm years I never thought we would make it again. If he does leave no hard feelings on my part.

Exactly how I feel. Wouldn't fire him but would not be upset if we find out tomorrow he is not coming back.

It is kind of weird too, if he left on his own he might actually have a decent legacy left behind. First since Lou?
