Next Coach?

Not suggesting anything, but, for Danny Hurley critics, in my opinion he is getting job done in third year at Rhody;

@JonRothstein: URI now has two more wins than it had all of last season. Rams are 16-5 overall and 8-2 in A 10 play after today's road win at Richmond.

I know Hurley can coach but at the end of the day I believe he would be a temporary coach, eventually going to a major (read, football) conference. Besides, as I have posted before, I do not think he or his brother would come here. That is one of the reasons I supported Norm longet than most; I felt if he worked out we would have a lifer. Obviously he did not work out.

If you had a choice of 1 of the 2 which Hurley which do you think is a better coach for 5 years

Neither! While Danny took to coaching with a vengeance after playing for Seton Hall, being especially successful at St Benedicts, his college resume is spotty. He had one good year at Wagner. WHOOPI!
His first 2 years at URI were both losing years and some are enamored by his current record in the a weak conference.
Now, the name brand of the family, the Duke all American and coach rat face protégé Bobby Hurley is doing fine at Buffalo, his only major gig other than serving as an assistant to his less talented brother. He, like our own Mike Repole, loves the horses but do we want a financially irresponsible guy as our head coach??

"A fan of Thoroughbred horse racing, Hurley owned Songandaprayer who won the 2001 Fountain of Youth Stakes.[8] He currently owns Devil Eleven Stables. In December 2009 he was sued by PNC Bank for defaulting on a $1 million loan that was used to purchase Songandaprayer, who was trained by Eddie Plesa, Jr."

I remember Songandaprayer.

Elizabeth.

Danny Hurley strikes me as a Mike Rice-lite.

He can get away with those antics at Wagner and in the A-10 where no one cares.

Wouldn't want him pulling that stuff with a much larger budget to play with.

No thanks.

St. John's should stick with Lavin

Cleuss is not an automatic

SJU is a good program, not a great one. Have yet to break through

Not going to get Rick Pitino, Cal, etc

Didn't he promise a donation or something? Did it ever come?
Screw him.

Make Lavin earn an extension.

Awesome Kevin. Glad you reposted it.
BTW, were you aware that Peter Tobin is a Tolentine grad?

The only thing I ever liked about any Hurley is that Bobby became involved in horse racing, a sport that is a hell of lot cleaner than college hoops.
