Next Coach?

Crazy how one month ago we were ranked #15 with one loss. Now gunning for 6th loss in 8 games.

Definitely time for a new coach, barring a monster recruiting class.

Don't care if Diallo signs with St. John's tomorrow. I don't want Lavin here anymore.

sorry. l was a lavin supporter but can't make up any excuses for him anymore.

I only watched the first half, our run to start the second half, and then the last 2 minutes. What did I miss? Did Lavin blow the game?

Lavin blew many of these games when he decided to take a year or two off from recruiting.

Can't wait to see the wizard's post game quotes.

Isn't he a ball of fun after a loss as he happily shakes the winning coaches hand. I watch many, many B.E. games and have yet to see the losing coach look so happy. He's a phony.

A one trick phony at that...

I actually want to wait out the entire year and assess Lavin then.

But....

We've been in Omaha since Monday with absolutely nothing to do, and it is clear the team and coach didn't watch a second of game film together and didn't come ready to play.

What I'd give to be a fly on the wall and see how Lavin runs this team. Oh and yet another loss where our lack of depth rears it's ugly head.

Believe it or not I don't think the season is over but i am not sure how much more I can take watching a poorly coached team. Maybe the seniors pull a NCAA tournament appearance out of their ass despite Lavin not supplying a bench, and maybe Lavin uses that momentum to get a great 2015 class. But I don't blame a single person who wants him gone anyway, because a poorly prepared team is hard to watch, and it is constant with this team.

Love the guys on this team, love the heart, but the season is gonna be nearly impossible to salvage. I hope they pull it off, but DLo and sheed both hurting now, and Chris obekpa has been spent for a few weeks now.

It is logical to want to wait for the season to play out. It is also logical to want Lavin out no matter what because of deficiencies. So no dumping on each other. Please

Quotes from post-game press conferences........

Steve Lavin: "There were so many things we did well."

Steve Lavin: "Statistically, it was one of our best games in league play"

Creighton coach Doug McDermott on SJU's early offensive struggles: "It took them a while to figure out what we were doing."

The problem with another coaching change is twofold:

1. If Jordan and Obekpa leave, what coach in his right mind would take this job next year?

and:

2. Even with all of Lavin's faults, I'm not sure we can do better. If we do better, it would likely be with a young up-and-comer, who will almost surely be off to higher places in 3-5 years. Then, it's back to square one. I'm not sure how many times you can be successful going to the well like that.

I don't understand how some fans still hope, "If only Lavin signs a stellar class for next year." The heralded '11 freshman class was almost completely in place by November, '10, when Lav had been on the job for ~ 6 months. To say that he's waited until the 11th hour on next year's class, when he's had years to construct his roster is being very generous. Looking at the facts, it's fair to say that he's unbelievably overconfident, neglectful, and/or indifferent about his roster.

This one's the best...........
@NYPost_Brazille: Asked how they begin winning Big East games after all these losses Lavin: “If I had the answer to that, I wouldn’t be in this business pal."

LETS put 1/2 the problems on the players and 1/4 on the assistants and 1/4 on the coach
OUTSIDE OF Dlo,Pointer others are overated. Jordan as talent but has not produced according to his HS ranking Obekpa blocks shots thats it I do blame the staff for the recruiting picks but Hey a lot of good programs wanted these players They hustle and try hard can not fault them for playing up to there talent. Thats said we did lose some close games perhaps at least 3-4 that could have been ws .Then we would all be singing a different tune
SO Part of me says stay with coach and change some of his staff .Maybe our big recruiting class if it happens put problems to rest Call me optimistic

Ben Howland.

Have I mentioned that before?

Wouldn't it be nice to have an actual professional coach?

Yes it would and I think Howland would be a good choice. Experienced, tough and I don't think he would be itching to leave as he has already been there and done that and it obviously did not work out. West coast guy who coaches east coast basketball; we could do a lot worse.

Does Monasch have to go too?
I've heard mixed reviews of him from people closer to the program than I am. Some like him, others obviously dont.

What do you guys think?
