No, LSD was actually originally created from a mold that grew on rye plants, although it was eventually chemically manufactured.Wasn’t Timothy Leary the guy who invented LSD?
The author, Norman Ohler, in discussion with Joe Rogan below discusses the origin of LSD he discovered while researching a book he wrote regarding drug use in Nazi Germany. Very interesting discussion and he credits the success of the Nazi Blitzkrieg on their soldiers extensive use of drugs to allow them to fight for long periods of time with little or no sleep.
A drug company that morphed into part of today’s Novartis were the original developers of LSD.
Be forewarned, it is a three hour show.
One interesting side bit; he shares anecdotally that very small micro doses of LSD, not enough to hallucinate, retarded and to some degree reversed his mother’s Alzheimer’s. He discovered the possibility while researching the book and it is interesting in light of the documented evidence of the use of hallucinogens in successfully treating PTSD, depression, addiction, etc. outside of the U.S.
