You went there. One of the guys Gary Keith or Gary said he minded them of Matt Harvey. I get it size wise that's close comparison
Pitching wise I'm gonna go with another comparison. Jake
Go Big or Go HomeYou went there.
Wait until King Tong reminds you of prime Tim Lincecum.Go Big or Go Home![]()
#1 per espn a couple days ago.
His stats last year weren’t great (they weren’t bad). Focusing on pitching on has really helped him power forward. Can somebody explain how McLean isn't a top 10 prospect? He has the #1 RPM in MLB for curveballs and he's already #7 in RPM in sweepers. He has a million pitches and throws upper 90's. He just gave up hitting last July and football 3 years ago...so there is plenty of ceiling there. He's also a physical freak and has the frame to put on another 25 pounds if that is the direction he wants to go. And he's a competitor. It looks like he's throwing a wiffle ball
I mean, what more can a pitcher do?
Prospect and farm “rankings” are just fluid and full of guessing. Just like ESPN having Mets at #1 for the system. They are already saying the Mets will be “dropping” because the Mets have a number of MLB ready guys. Sproat, Benge, Tong and others will all be here in MLB soon. Even though that’s the object but they will fall off the rankings list. We shouldn’t get caught up in it.His stats last year weren’t great (they weren’t bad). Focusing on pitching on has really helped him power forward.
Alvarez can’t get out of his own way. Also saw that Alvarez got hit in his non-injured hand on the pinky. He really has bad luck.
Wasn’t Timothy Leary the guy who invented LSD?It took almost 60 years for another Mets pitcher named Nolan to burst onto the scene with a blazing fastball that could overwhelm batters. This Nolan however, has a devastating curve and command and maturity that has resulted in 3 wins in his first 3 starts, something no Met, not even one named George Thomas or Dwight achieved.
It's crazy that this kid has arrived at a time the Mets needed some stability in their starting rotation in order to make a serious stretch run.
We've seen this before, whether it be Timothy Leary, or any number of live armed highly regarded prospects. For now at least, this feels different.
I remember esrly in Gooden's Met career he got battered in Chicago, but quickly recovered to resume his dominance in subsequent starts.
With the lineup suddenly clicking, McLean might just be they secret ingredient to a storybook finish.
