New York Mets-2018

LGM. I was happy to be able to see 2 games over here in London last week (one on Facebook and one on BT Sports). I haven't broken down to buy the MLB pass because most games are played after midnight.

Good to get a couple wins with subpar starts out of Degrom and Thor.

Maybe you can leverage a DVR and watch next day? My wife has some folks working for her in London and Manchester. I might be making the trip next time she travels. We have had opportunities in the past to make the move like you did. That's a big decision. Not sure we could do it. Hope its going well for you. I am interested in possibly catching a Premier League game. I wonder if you have any suggestions as to which team (experience?) would be the best to see? My son is more interested than I. But...sports is sports.

It was getting late and I needed sleep so I shut the game off after Boher's (probably misspelled) 2nd HR that put the Marlins up by 2. Woke up, checked score and saw the Mets won. Wow. So far this team feels different in a good way. Scrappy, fights back, and good chemistry with improvement in defense. We have the horses to go far, just need to stay healthy.

Mike, they have had a good habit of answering right back. Marlins took the lead and within 3 batters Flores/Cabrera had hit HRs to tie. Helps that Marlins are bad but right now Mets seem to believe they are going to win. Many ups and downs ahead but its nice getting off to a good start.

You rewatch the next day and probably even in a shorter version on MLB.TV, but isn't the same as live. Some people keep sling boxes as their parents/siblings homes back in the states so they can watch sports and other American shows while abroard. If the Mets keep winning I might have to breakdown and get MLB.TV.

We love it here in London, but unfortunately 8 months into my assignment I was laid off when my boss resigned to join a competitive firm. I've been job hunting for about 5 months now hoping to stay here in London. Things in finance are slow with MifidII and Brexit. I've had many conversations with a German company and there is a strong chance that will be the next stop.

It is hard to find tickets to Premier league games. A lot of clubs don't allow for reselling, so the only way to go is thru season tickets or knowing a ticket holder. There are some clubs that allow reselling, but you need to check their websites. Tickets tend to be scarce and very expensive (unless for a bottom standing club). London has a ton of good clubs. I have only been to Arsenal, but Chelsea, Fulham and others are nearby. Manchester obviously has 2 really good clubs. The games are very different. The stadiums are bare bones, they are more like college stadiums. Concession are minimal and you can only drink down by the concession areas.

Sorry to hear that. That sucks. I was afraid of that when I considered position. I just had too many obligations at the time. House, college tuition and wife's career. Now, not so much so... Still think culture is different. I have worked for Dutch, English and Swiss banks. Good luck finding a new gig.
Thanks for the Premier League info. Sounds like we would be better served seeing a lesser team as tickets would be more available. I always got the impression that stadiums aren't exactly Citifield. Concessions this year are off the charts.

It is just my wife and I with no kids and few obligations, so the move was an easy choice. My wife transferred and is still working here, so that makes everything easier. The culture here is more different than I think we thought it would be.

If you guys make it over and need anything let me know.

Thanks Gman. Will do and good luck with your search.

Travis D'Arnaud to DL with partially torn UCL in his throwing arm. Tomas Nido promoted from AA to take his place. He will back-up Plawecki.

Sounds like TDA's season in jeopardy. I can't say that I am broken up about that. I wish him luck but frankly he has underperformed both offensively and defensively.

After Mattingly took out Garcia who had thrown only 77 pitches with no hits at the time I have to compare him to an old National manager, Matt Williams. Both are terrible at pitching changes. I'm not saying he should have left him in for nine innings but at least one more. Heck, we probably hit only two solid balls up to that time. At any rate thanks Don.

Pulling him so early was really strange. It’s not like Mattingly was using analytics like Gabe Kapler.

Hope they can play well against the Brewers. Should have nice crowds Friday and Saturday night. Sunday is supposed to be cold with the chance of light rain/most.

I can't say I am too upset when the opposing Manager pulls a rock. It usually seems to be the Mets making those mistakes!

11-1 to start the season. 9 wins in a row! I don't think we could have scripted a better start. Hopefully, we continue to fatten up for the long summer ahead. LGM!

The best part is the starting pitching has not been dominant and the offense has not been HR dependent and we should expect both areas to get better. Cespedas about to go on one of his two week streaks.

Have to like the way we have spread out the RBI's with Cespedes, Gonzalez, Cabrera, Frazier and Bruce. Still hoping our starters go longer in the game. Shame Matz and Thor can't hold on runners but at least Harvey tried last game.

Jack, most fans are much too focused on the catcher. Now its true that both TDA/Plaw have terrible throwing arms, but most of the time the bases that were stolen were clearly stolen off the pitchers. Johnny Bench wasn't throwing them out. After his last start, Matz seemed to admit it but of course rhetorically asked "if any scored". He doesn't seem concerned but this is something they need to work on as it will catch up to them at some point.
