New York Mets-2018
Excellent start but being a Met fan is like being a St Johns fan. We are always waiting for something bad to happen. But it's been real enjoyable so far. Nimmo has surprised me the most and lots of production from him and Lagares
Agree with you Mike but let's remember we have a new reactive manager and coaches, including a new medical staff. Having two pitching coaches doesn't hurt either. Nice to hear they don't pull punches.
What I find most encouraging is the team manufacturing critical runs with heads up base running rather than just relying on bombs. If it were last year we would not have had those runs and might be 4-3 rather than 6-1.
Plus the fact we have been able to come back after trailing. Having guys like Frazier and Gonzalez added to the lineup this year gives me so much more confidence, especially against pitchers we have had trouble with in the past.
4-2 Win....Put it in the Books! 8-1 record let the good times roll.

Syndergaard was good, not great today. Fish are going to have a long season. Offense did just enough to keep us out of trouble. A big hit and Mets could have broken that one open.
Agree. Syndergaard has looked so, so to me. Interesting that he didn't hit the 100 mph gun last night. Was hoping he was going for more contact instead of strikeouts. Still has to improve holding runners on base. I still feel deGrom is our best pitcher.

Understand that Nimmo needs to play but this leaves us with Reyes as the only left-handed bat which isn't good. I also would have preferred P.J. Conlon because he is a lefty over Oswalt at this time. Thrilled to be 8-1 and love the new coaching staff but its a long season but can't too excited this early.

Very nice. Good early season win. We have set a nice early season tone. Callaway has brought a whole different vibe to this team. Would really be something going if we can sweep them tomorrow night. LGM!
Right on,break up the Mets. A win tonight gives us 4 straight series wins. You gotta believe!

I think Conlon just pitched and would have to be added to 40 man. Plus Marlins only have one big lefty bat in Bour.
Nimmo sent to minors
Must want an extra bullpen arm given that they have not gotten a lot of innings from starters early on. They will need another corresponding move tomorrow when they call up Zack Wheeler to start in Miami.

And it has to be a relief pitcher that gets sent down.

Thanks. Just thinking we need another lefty reliever at some point. Especially with Harper and Freeman in the division.

Do you realize that two MLB teams are owned by SJU grads - Miami and Tampa Bay.

I'm in met withdrawal right now for not being able to watch this week. I'm hoping this is one of those years where I'm watching a lot of games and not tuning in and out

BTW Any of you guys watch yankee games also ? I do sometimes but was wondering what you thought of Cone in the Booth. I cant stand his voice. Literally makes me cringe

So spoiled with Keith and Ron.

DeGrom may have a slight edge on Syndegaard at this time but he is also four year older so hoping that Syndegaard can still take his game up a notch.

I feel the same way about their voices....

Bour just proved my point. Need to have a lefty in the game at that point. Rhame may have had a big save the other day but he is still a very inexperienced rookie.

9-1....LGM! Shaky all the way around but when you win on nights like this (deGrom was unsteady) when we blow the lead its all good. Best start in Mets history. I just can't complain about a thing. Keep it going boys!

Having the baseball package and listening to all kind of announcers, I can honestly say G/K/R are hands down the best in the business. I know people will say that is biased but I swear just listen. Last year I would have Vin Scully on that level. As for the Yankees, I would rather listen to broken glass against a chalk board then anyone named Cone, Kay or on the radio Sterling and Susan Waldman. I don't even tune to WFAN anymore during baseball season for fear that I hear one second of their broadcast.

Agree, I too have the baseball package with Directv. I stay with the Met announcers even when MLB also has the game. Our guys have so much insight and knowledge. No overreacting.

Looks like bad choices to me.

Excellent win tonight, another comeback after trailing..Have to give Cespedes credit knocking in the winning runs after looking terrible again. Think about the pressure he had to put on himself. Thank God slow ball Ziegler wasn't throwing any pitch over 83mph.
