NCAA Tournament Thread

Well, they deserve it quite frankly. Sure, some of these ACC teams have had a pretty easy paths to the Elite 8, but they took full advantage of it. Two of our teams played their one seeds, both lost. Seton Hall lost to Gonzaga. Xavier lost to Wisconsin and had they won that likely would've beaten ND.

The most important games are still to be played. A national championship is worth more than anything and Nova has a legit shot. Nova is the one thing keeping this tournament from really sucking. I'm tuning out of the tournament if they're eliminated.

Yea they took advantage but it's just frustrating they were gift wrapped these oppurtunites. Butler and Providence both easily could've done this had they gotten these paths laid out for them. But they were on the 8/9 line which pretty much guaranteed an early exit

That's true. Fortunately, for the Big East's sake, Nova has already had a very successful run and we shouldn't hear about them choking moving forward. It just sucks to see the ACC going off like this.

If Nova wins it all (or any team besides an ACC team), that's still worth more than anything the ACC has done this tournament. So let's all cheer on Nova tomorrow and hope for the best.

Kansas is the best team in this tournament. If nova wins it'll be without a doubt the best win Jay Wright has ever gotten at Villanova. I'd love to see it

Only 2 point underdogs. It'll be tough but a very real possibility at a FF berth tomorrow.

Also worth mentioning zero SEC schools and zero Big Ten teams remaining. So yeah everyone talking about the ACC and rightfully so but things could definitely be worse.

Imagine if Nova lost to Miami and we had zero Elite 8 teams and ACC had 5 with a shot at 3 FF teams lol.

Notre Dame played an 11, 14, and 7 seed to get to the elite eight

Syracuse played a 7, 15, and 11

I feel sick to my stomach. Syracuse and Notre Dame are both not elite eight quality teams. Hell they aren't even second weekend quality teams. But that's March I guess
Got to be in it to win it! ;) :)

Just a question. Most of the announcers are affiliated with the Acc, When the referees are looking at the monitor to review a play, i've noticed the announcers are Very loud in their opinion, Are the Referees in earshot ?
Don't need to be within earshot. Refs have listening devices in their ears directly linked to all ACC announcers.

Congratulations to UNC on moving into the Elite 8 despite having had fake classes on transcripts.

Truly amazing.

Two points. One college basketball was really weak this year so I'm not surprised to see low ranked teams move on. Two the NCAA did a pretty bad job seeding teams this year and we are seeing that in these matchups.

Between them and cuse it shows cheating pays off.

The NCAA will release a statement that since the hundred of athletes who benefitted from the cheating left NC in some cases twenty years ago it would be terribly unfair to punish any current or future athlete.
Roy Williams swore he knew nothing about it and would never condone cheating. In addition he assumes the selection committee next year will tak into consideration that Carolina has suffered immensely in its' recent recruiting and deserves the same break Syracuse got this year.

Perhaps the UNC punishment is taking this much time because they are going to revoke years of wins and championships across two major sports. Is there a precedent for this one?

I know the NCAA screws the little guys to a much greater degree and cater to the big schools, but this one involved academic fraud which is an area of focus for the NCAA.

We'll see.

Don't bet on it. My guess is a slap on the wrist.

To add insult to injury , 2 of the 4 ACC elite 8 schools are former BE schools. But when you add Syracuse,Louisville,ND, et al. to an already very strong ACC , you have to expect this. Would have liked to see X win, but I think the BE is holding there own as a BB conference.

You're first point leads to the second point. The overall weakness brings everyone back to the pack and increases parity which makes the seeding process harder. To all those whining about the ACC, which was obviously the best conference in the country this year even before we got to this point, just be happy that all their teams are on one side of the bracket and they can't send 3 teams to the final four, still solely a Big East achievement.

Lon Kruger is a helluva coach

As, I said on the other board (a couple weeks ago), he's won everywhere he's coached, collegiately. The only place he didn't win was with the Atlanta Hawks (NBA, of course).

He has taken four different teams to the Elite 8 (three schools to Sweet 16's), and two different squads to the Final Four. Pretty sound.
