NCAA Tournament Thread

Well that was wrong thing as USC hit a few outside shots and Oregon missed a one foot shot unchallenged.
The bottom line is aside from rooting for the number one team in the country just because they once were Cinderella, all the teams I relate to are gone. It doesn't matter if they were Big East or nice underdogs or schools of close friends, if I cheered for them in this tournament...it's over.  31-18 USC...sorry Fig. I'll stop watching...maybe that will help.

Why not foul v shit FT shooting team

72% for season but beyond shitty tonight. Story of game begins and ends with their abysmal FT shooting tonight.

Hard to believe that Alabama shot 44% (11-25) from the line
They should have easily won the game in regulation

At least 3 of those were front ends of one and ones all in regulation so more like 11-28 in a game that ended in regulation 70-70. Story of game.

Figueroa playing an awful game for Oregon.  Seems he was better as a sixth man.  As a fifth man he has shown the same weaknesses when he was here.   Not gonna say I’m terribly upset about it.Don’t like seeing teams like Oregon with Altman win.

I'm thrilled that i don't have to see Duke, Kansas, UNC, or Kentucky anywhere near the Elite Eight, but I will be pretty annoyed if UCLA or Michigan wins it all, even if they haven't done so since I was in college. I want a fresh name in there. But not Baylor since I despise that program.

I guess I'm pulling for Gonzaga, Arkansas, and Oregon St. And I suppose UCLA, since I think the most brutal loss of Gonzaga's entire run was that game when Adam Morrison had a nervous breakdown before the buzzer even sounded, and was completely useless for that last sequence when the Zags still had a chance.

Didn’t stay up to see it but that’s a tough game from Figgy. Heck of a career but a rough way to go out.

MCN, he was a clear top 3 player on a sweet 16 team. Awful game. Really good career.

That explains it.  His biggest fan misses his biggest game. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

I could rest easy knowing they were gonna hit the over ;)

The one sweet 16 game that did btw.

God, watching University of Spoiled Children v. Nike U was a tough one.
But in the end I went with the guy who met his wife at Alumni Hall.

Curious what posters think of Enfield and his career at USC.  Have to say last night was the first time I've watched them this year.  They were really fun to watch.  He struggled for 2 years.  Then hit the ground running.  Then hit another rough 2 year stretch but one of which they likely should have been in NCAA instead of NIT.  Last year they would have made it as well.

I really haven't followed him at all at USC.

For me, he'll always be the laid-back coach (like Mark Harmon in "Summer School") leading the mismatched misfits at the made-for-tv-fake-school Florida Gulf Coast to greatness.

1. I'm surprised he's been at USC that long.
2. I'm getting old
3. I'm surprised he was only at Dunk City for 2 years and 1 of which was bad.

Just my opinion but , from what I saw in the Tourney , I thought Quinerly was just as good a Guard as Bougtnight .  Figgy had a tough game vs USC .

Looking at Michigan guard Smith I got a vibe that under the big hair and bad posture lurked the killer instincts of John Linehan of our years of PC suffering.

Quinnerly is outstanding - reminds me of Ponds in some respects.

Smith, not so much, IMHO.

Don’t know about the numbers but smith made huge plays that changed direction of that game.

Quinerly is quick as hell and has found a nice spot but his decision making leaves a lot to be desired.

Totally fair.  I love Quinerly's quickness, handle, and arm extension to get the shot off against taller players.  He has a decent shooting touch.  No argument that his decision-making could use some work, but it isn't awful, either.

Smith takes care of the ball and is a decent distributor but it's too easy for teams to take advantage of his lack of height and it makes it too difficult for him to get any kind of shot off if he's covered at all.  He does show up in some big spots, though.

On a completely different player topic, Dickinson is an absolute thug.
