I think the seeding was all screwed up this year because of the uneven season because of Covid. A lot of these schools canceled their out of conference schedules. So you really didn’t get a chance to see teams playing teams outside their own conferences which is how they judge which conferences are better etc. but they didn’t have that metric this year. The Big 10 was way over seeded and the PAC 12 was under seeded. And these mid majors normally play major conference teams out of conference early in the season and didn’t this year, so many of them were under seeded like Loyola-Chicago. Made for a great tournament though!  What do you guys think?
I'm going to try and get you one of those North Texas Mean Green shirts so you can wear it on St Patricks Day :)

I've been a Johnnies fan since the Reggie Carter/Wayne McCoy era and was hoping to see SJU in the tournament this year. I met my wife in '95 and moved to Portland, Oregon in '97. She is an Oregon State grad. We have struggled through the dysfunction of both programs over the years. The current OSU run is a welcome breath of fresh air. Coach Tinkle has really righted the ship this season and our family is enjoying the run.

Our blasphemous son (he's 16 and a huge SJU fan) emerged from the basement and said he was taking out Sister Mary and the game against Loyola was in the bag. I hope Sister Mary continues her long life but I would love to see the Beavers continue this run!

Rutgers, Colgate, Iona, St bonnaventure, Syracuse etc.

Its painful that all these schools around us are in.  This cannot happen again next year.
Well Hartford, Drexel, Nova and Uconn, and even U of Maryland, are closer to St Johns than Colgate St Bonnies and Syracuse, but I get what you mean.

Arkansas is playing a lot of Freshman and transfers. I'm not sure who's still there from Anderson's teams. There's probably a few seniors that are celebrating right now.
Just checked.  Desi Sills and Ethan Henderson are the only holdovers.  Sills only played 3 min today, Henderson none, as Musselman really shortened his bench.  Sills came in averaging over 20 mins per game.

Could have an old big east battle in the sweet 16; Rutgers/Syracuse
Well WVU/Syracuse was an old big east battle as well.  WVU came in with Rutgers but left a year earlier, but at least WVU was relevant when they were in the BE.

Buddy Boeheim is very good
The segment they did on him was really good.   He seems like a very sweet kid.   Man, you'd almost wish for a nose picking, rant-at-refs, stomp his feet, AH to hate.   This kid just seems too nice, and has worked his tail off to get where he is.   Boeheim for his part supposedly had no interest in him coming to Syracuse until his coaches unanimously approached him.  Nice college story.

Wally S. added his own commentary on being coached and taught by his dad.

Tell your son that Fredo would have taken out Sister Mary by mistake instead of Sister Jean.

Another full day of basketball. I've got a lot to do today. I'll try to check in on the Oklahoma v Gonzaga game. I have a bad feeling it's going to be a rough day for the Sooners.

I will watch the LSU v Michigan game tonight and check in on Florida State v Colorado. Should be a good night of basketball.

A “Happy” favorite Aundre Hyatt who we once recruited had 15 & 10 for LSU Saturday. Despite rumors he was academically gifted and going Ivy perhaps, he was enticed by “honest citizen” Will Wade.

Really good slate of games on today. What has long been my least favorite day of the week has taken on a new luster for this week!

Screw Buddy Boeheim, Jim Boeheim, Syracuse, Syracuse fans, the color orange, and every single thing associated with that program.  I HATE Syracuse.

I usually hate syracuse but not yesterday.  I used them in my survivor pool and bet them pretty heavily.  So thank you buddy.  Now you can lose again if I dont bet you lol

Even though I am a huge Johnnies fan, I can't hate Cuse; had two close friends that went there, and since I was a St. John's commuter and lived with at home, I drove up there for the "sleep away' college experience. (Well, at least a few weekends each semester.)

Beating the Orange when I visited happened a few times over the years of these visits and WAS VERY SWEET. We had pretty good teams, '71-'77 (undergrad and law).

Both of those guys died way too young leaving families behind, and in one case the children (like their dad) are huge Cuse fans, and they are like my nieces and nephews to me and so for them I root for Cuse except of course if they are playing us. I once sat next to GMac's cousin Kelly Mc at a BET tourney game, and got friendly and she later got me a signed basketball inscribed by GMac to my buddy's kids from their National Championship team. Boeheim didn't sign it, and didn't sign a program I mailed to him for the kids, so I am no fan of his.

Having said that I think Syracuse does better when they are a lower seed. They also win games when another team only has one day to prepare for the zone. Proved true this year. If they played a series against WVU WVU wins the series.

It's tough for me to root for Syracuse. For whatever reason I just always find myself pulling against them. Syracuse and UConn are the two teams I have a tough time rooting for under any circumstances. Even against Maryland in a year when the Big East is underrepresented I found myself thrilled that UConn flamed out like that.

I don't like Georgetown but I empathize with them as a once great program trying to get back on top (I'm just under 40 so too young to remember the sweater game and all those battles that really seemed to forge that rivalry) Once we were out, I was surprised that I felt happy for them to have that run in the BET. I'm a Knicks fan so I guess I just have a soft spot for Ewing. I used to be sort of fine with Seton Hall although my frustration with them has been growing over the past few years. I'm sensing that fan base is building up a little bit of unearned arrogance the past few seasons. Not saying they shouldn't be happy with their tournament appearances and recent increased success but I think they percieve themselves a good deal more favorably than the rest of the country which is annoying. I can still pull for them if it helps the conference but that's getting tougher.

UConn and Cuse though? Never.
