NCAA Tournament Thread

Maybe in I'm in the minority, but I've never used the NCAA tournament as a barometer of how strong a conference was in a particular year. These tournaments can be so fluky and often come down to luck, matchups, etc

The Big East was robbed...and it means money...recruiting...and BS net rankings for next year....They dominate the voting so they all have high rankings to start the season....so of course their net rankings are inflated and so on and so on....I take offense knowing that none of all those high seeded big 10 teams would dominate in the big east and yet they can play there script and everyone buys it....if they want the money...recruits...etc...thats fine...but don't lie to me...Go St. JOHNS!

Bill Raftery has mentioned a number of times today the advantage Syracuse enjoys because W. Va. Is not accustomed to playing against the Syr. zone. You hear this every year in Syr tournament games because of the quick turnaround between games.
But Syr. has been successful for over forty years playing Boeheims  zone in regular season games also and college coaches tend to copy any successful strategy and I know of no other team using the Syr zone over the years. Anybody have an answer as to why other teams have not copied this strategy.

Easy to root for Huggins, a character who kids play hard for and knows the game

I don’t necessarily disagree Monte, but for all those accolades his team just lost partially because he couldn’t get up and down the court or guard a 50 year pizza delivery guy.

Get this is somewhat tongue in cheek, but Loyola center averaged 15 pts. 7 rebounds, 3 assists & 1 block over 3 years for a team that went to the second week of the dance 2 of those 3 years. Athleticism, or lack thereof, doesn't necessarily determine a good college bball player which this kid certainly has been.

Buddy Boeheim is very good
i would think he is having an outstanding second half. He is clearly responsable for keeping the Orange in the game this second half. Kid is an outstanding shooter.

We get it you don’t like the Big Ten, fine no problem.  But what Big East team was robbed and should have gotten in?  If you took out four from the Big Ten (or the Big Flop), no Big East team would have gotten in because none when in the next four if someone had to drop out due to COVID before Tuesday.

As much as I dislike Cuse and Boeheim, he should never be underestimated in the tournament. And Buddy too!

Syracuse advances to the sweet sixteen. 75-72. That last minute of the game took a lot out of me. WV didn't go down easily.

Arkansas v Texas Tech 35-32 going into 2nd half.

We'd still be playing right now if we had either the pizza delivery guy, or the guy that he schooled today /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

No offense, but this misnomer often is regurgitated re: Boeheim has primarily or exclusively played zone for 30 or 40 years.  Boeheim played loads of man defense up until around 1995 or '96.  That's is when he exclusively went to the zone defense.

Another great game down to the wire, Arkansas and Texas Tech.  What a tournament.

I waited 25 years to once again say Arkansas is in the Sweet Sixteen. I watched Heath,Pelphrey, and Anderson try. Musselman finally got it done.

Feels so good to finally see this program reach it's potential. It ain't over yet. It'll be interesting to see how deep they advance.

Musselman was jumping around like they just won the National Championship. They were the higher seed in the game. Easy now!

Rutgers up 2 on Houston but Houston is a notorious second half team. I would like to see Rutgers hold on.

Rutgers, Colgate, Iona, St bonnaventure, Syracuse etc.

Its painful that all these schools around us are in.  This cannot happen again next year.

Arkansas is playing a lot of Freshman and transfers. I'm not sure who's still there from Anderson's teams. There's probably a few seniors that are celebrating right now.
