Loyola had a lot of returnees this season and we should have a talented core re-upping next year. With a few additional pieces we may make some noise next year. All about continuity when you’re not getting elites dropped in your lap.

Agreed completely. Continuity very important, especially when going after lower ranked kids who you may need to develop over a few years. The early Mark Few years at Gonzaga are a perfect example. Don't think he got a top 100 kid for 6 or 7 years after he took over as HC.

This is my first time seeing Baylor.  They are very good.  Super quick and strong back court.

Loyola guy can flat out coach. I am beyond happy we have CMA as our coach but I was not against us hiring Moser and imho he would have been a better choice than Arizona State's Hurley.
Moser actually grew on me after the first couple days of his name being mentioned with the Johnnies opening.  Loyola runs some good sets and they really "dig in you" defensively.

Speaking of Kofi Cockburn, I told Maher shortly after tip off that Cockburn wasn't a particularly good defender.  Eventually, this game, he became a defensive liability.

I watched a handful of Illinois games this season, whether it was portions of a game or in its entirety, and I noticed Cockburn really had issues changing directions and would at times get caught being flat-footed.  He was exposed for those shortcomings today.

Not the strongest year for the Big East but I think the only thing people are gonna remember from this tourney is how fraudulent the Big Ten ended up being.

Wisconsin goes down now too. Only 4 Big Ten teams left and I dont see Rutgers getting past Houston later personally.

If Wisconsin is not banging down threes they’re in trouble. Because if they’re not hitting threes they get down and they don’t have the type of athleticism to play pressure defense and create turnovers.

Fascinating game between Loyola and Illinois. Agree with those who say Loyola was seeded far too low. This school was in the Final Four three years ago and their two best players were important contributors on that team. I think it’s a little unfair to criticize Cockburn. He was not skilled enough to defend Krutwig but offensively he played a good game. He was in for at least five minutes too many and I think Curbelo was in for at least five too few. Frazier and Dosunmu weren’t up for the challenge today.

If I were Moser the Marquette job would be appealing. Wojo was able to get good players there and Moser will be able to get his style of players there as well with a little more room for error getting into the NCAA and more resources. Same part of the country and somewhat similar size Catholic schools.

Kofi can’t get up and down the court for all those screaming for a true big man.
I was thinking the same thing.  That and he's not much of a defensive presence.  I think we are better off with an athletic stretch 4 who alters shots and can make a 3 now and then.

Might have been good for both of parties that he didn't come here.

I hear what you're saying, but I think we sometimes get a little carried away with what player does and doesn't fit in to CMA's system. Putting aside today, Kofi is one of the 2 or 3 best big men in the country. A 2nd team AA. I think CMA would have been thrilled to have him(I know I would) and would have figured out how to adjust his system to make it work with Kofi on the floor. You don't pass on a kid like Kofi because you don't think he'll fit your system. You adjust your system somewhat to allow for a kid like Kofi.

I don’t necessarily disagree Monte, but for all those accolades his team just lost partially because he couldn’t get up and down the court or guard a 50 year pizza delivery guy.

My first time watching Joe Girard from Syracuse. I remember a few years ago some of our fans really wanted him. All time leading scorer for NY State. I checked his stats and it hasn't totally translated to this level unfortunately. Definitely a solid piece but hasn't developed into a star.

Cuse always seem to rise to the occasion when the chips are down and it really counts. But  Nice to see West Virginia creeping back in. You know Huggins teams never give up and play hard all the time.
I begged our prior staff to come to Montréal August 2018 to watch Quincy Guerrier play in the BrookwoodElite showcase but no one could come. 25 high major schools came and Adrien Autry of Cuse did what he had to to get Quincy to commit to the Orange. A very good and versatile 6 7 guard / forward.

The Big Ten did a great job in selling their product.  The sales job put nine schools in the tourney.  As it turns out they get to bank all that money as a participitation trophy.
