NCAA Tournament Discussion

Any other head coaches in the field of 68 make it with no prior coaching experience?

Not a pro Mullin question just curious and too lazy to do the research.

Mullin is in year FOUR. At what point does the no coaching excuse go away? 10 years 20 years?

Yup we will officially have a new National Champion in a about another 30-40 minutes. We just won't know who it will be until April 8th.

How about this irony, assuming this Nova score holds or close to it SJU will officially have the smallest losing deficit of the 4 BE teams ousted from the NCAA's. That is something I guess...LOL!

Say goodnight Villanova and goodnight to the Big East Conference in 2019...not many units coming to the Conference this year!

So who did we beat this year?

Not sure what you are saying here...

First off I was partly joking as if SJU's loss in Dayton is the same.

Second I was talking about just the loss margins, not whether a team won prior to the loss...

Man took a while but we are starting to see the Auburn team that many thought we would see at the beginning of the year. They are rolling Kansas right now after winning SEC Tourney....

My point was that our big wins at the time vs Nova and Marq are looking a lot less impressive with the late season performances of those 2 teams (I should have been more clear).

Lackluster tourney so far, where are all the buzzer beaters?

Our OOC games were probably against better teams than our conference games. Embarrassing -- no, make that "humiliating" year for the Big East.

Yup, Auburn taking Kansas to the woodshed, up by 25, 78-53 with 11 mins left.
Never been impressed with Bill Self, given the recruits he pays for.

Our disappointing big east season has been devalued by its tournament performance.

Ron wasn’t making an excuse was just asking a question. Mullin never should have been hired in the first place with no coaching experience.

Agree. No buzzer beaters. Seedings 3-6 seem to be weaker this year. No major, and I mean MAJOR upsets. Top four seeds blowing through. This is a boring tournament.

Horrendous showing by the Big East. Then again, the teams that made it in were teams that we beat, so what could you expect! Makes me wonder what Xavier might have done.

Agreed, although the LSU win over Maryland yesterday was pretty exciting with a layup with 1 second remaining deciding the game.

Watching this tournament you realize that we didn’t stand a chance doing anything. Every team that is advancing has some kind of anchor in the paint, some teams have 2.

LSU/Maryland was a good example. Naz Reid/Bigby-Williams were battling with Fernando/Smith all game. We would’ve been slaughtered playing either one of those teams

If Xavier had won that semi-final game vs Villanova, and they should have won it in regulation time, they probably would have gotten the fourth big East bid instead of SJU. They are getting 11 points tonight vs Texas.
Correction - Xavier was getting six points. Confused it with my bet on Harvard.
