NCAA Tournament Discussion
Tariq Owens is now headed to the elite eight. I believe anyone who questioned his grad transfer decision might want to rethink that. Personally very happy for him. Classy individual who worked hard, got his degree and now gets some glory on the national stage. SJU might dream of the elite eight, but since Ron Artest and his crew 20 years ago it has been just a dream and nothing more.
Agree.......but I think he falls a little shy of classy. Kid can never take the high road when discussing his transfer decision. He's probably a good kid, but I am not going out of my way to say classy.

Austour was right.......the post triggered me. :)
We all know Duke is going to win it all after the UCF game. Refs swallowed whistles for Duke on several no-calls in the final seconds. UCF also missed shots that go in 95% of the time in the final seconds including a 2 on 1 alley oop.
Leave me out of that "We all know."

I am riding Virginia in a local pool because of their D & like Ty Jerome from his Iona Prep days. That said, they obviously scare you because of their often low scoring, close games and dependence on starters.

Kyle Guy is absolutely ICE cold. Unbelievable that he has gone this cold at a time when he is needed most.

They have gotten this far essentially getting nothing from him so far.

If they are going to win this thing need that kid to step up.

I was rooting hoarsely for Oregon with a Duck fan junkie next to me, who also roots for the Johnnies!
“Wouldn’t it be great if St. John’s played Oregon next year in the Elite Eight, we’ll have a block party with banners!”
I just nodded and smiled.

Adjusting now to root for a FF of Duke, Gonzaga, Purdue and Kentucky.

Probably rooting for Gonzaga/Purdue Final. Unless of course the Kentucky Yankees synergy can keep going.

Gonzaga is fun to watch, so fluid offensively.

Agree, Gonzaga is the team I'm rooting for.

IMO, it's more about who I'm rooting against (Duke and UNC) than for. Although, I sort of found myself rooting for Texas Tech last night.

Yes, Texas Tech defends so well Dink.

When I look at Leonard Hamilton i keep thinking, man, I can't believe he is 70 years old!!! I thought he was younger.
I was going to post the exact same thing.

Interesting that the media was making a huge deal about Izzo getting in the face of Henry for a mistake last game. At half today he has 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Sometimes tough love is not a bad thing.

Samir Doughty looks very good for Auburn. It makes me wonder if practicing against him for a year didn’t and knowing how good he was didn’t factor into Heron’s decision.

UNC - Auburn game a good one. That kid McCormick did a great job for Auburn in first half filling in for Harper who got two early fouls. McCormick played 12 mpg and average 4 ppg during the year, had 10 points in first half.

Conspiracy theory?
I think Heron's mom factored into his decision or the NCAA would have denied eligibility.
Samir was a 3 star recruit criticized here for being a Lavin recruit. Now you want us to think he forced a 5 star player to transfer?
Bruce Pearl gets the max out of his players. We got the minimum out of Heron. Pointing that finger is more appropriate. Perhaps Mitch should have worked him harder.

Doughery averaged 7 pts per game this year Heron averaged what 16.5 as a soph heading into his junior year.

I know we were never in the running for Naz Reid and I recall there were mixed feelings on how good he'd be in college, but I have seen him play several times this year and he is an absolute load. Averaged 14 and 7 as a frosh for top 10 team and is just huge matchup problem.
