NCAA Tournament Discussion
Also to my fellow Knicks supporters, is anyone else scared to death they are gonna end up with the 3rd pick and get stuck with RJ Barrett?

The guy screams bust to me. Obviously can improve, but I don’t see anything from him that makes me want to draft him. Even Reddish, who has been pretty bad the last month or so, to me looks like a better scorer.
Ditto re: Barrett "screaming bust." Two good friends of mine was just discussing this on Saturday, and I had no idea what they thought about Barrett, but we all came to the same conclusion that he'll be a 12-15 year NBA player, but he has "journeyman" written all over him.

Funny, I also thought the same yesterday re: Reddish looks to be a better scorer than Barrett. If I was any team, and wasn't looking to trade down or out of a pick, then Williamson and Morant should be the consensus two first picks. I would draft someone else or trade out of my early first round pick before I'd draft Barrett.
Looking at the remaining NCAA tournament teams and can't help but think about how cheating pays. Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Sampson, Roy Williams, John Calipari, even LSU without a coach.

I'm sure there are more we don't even know about. Just really discouraging as a fan of the sport knowing how uneven of a playing field it is.
Yeah, I kinda feel ya on this post.

Who says crime doesn't pay?

You should be more scared about landing the No. 1 pick.
You think Zion isn’t gonna be good? It’s funny I’ve been getting in arguments with my friends at school about Zion. I still think he’s gonna be a consistent 20-5-5 guy. But they think he’s gonna be a top 5 player in the league and I personally don’t see that.

I love his motor and he actually has a soft touch from 3 that I could see improving with time. Obviously insane athleticism.

But i heard Mike Francesca, who I HATE, make a point about Zion that I actually agreed with. He doesn’t have the skills to be a great 3 in the NBA. Doesn’t have the size to be a viable 4 in the NBA. So he’s kinda stuck. My friends say he will be fine as a 4. I think he will definitely struggle his first couple seasons and maybe break out in time.

I don't think he's a 20 ppg guy. Maybe 16-17 in his best season. And I don't think he'll ever be a huge rebounder in the pros. I just think people are crazy for calling him the next LeBron.

As a diehard Knick fan, I'll be very happy if they wind up with Zion or Ja, not very happy if they wind up with Barrett or Reddish. I agree that Zion is not the second coming of Lebron, but think he'll be a very good 4 (every bit as big as Draymond Green and far more skilled) for a number of years so long as he remains healthy. Sometimes I think I'd prefer they get Ja, but would be happy either way.

Seems to me there are a couple of guys moving ahead of Barrett and Reddish in the draft order. I’d rather have Grant Williams or Admiral Scofield or Jarret Culver than either Barrett or Reddish. Morant is a no brainer and I think Zion will dominate at the 3. Super quick moves to the basket. No need to put him up against huge 4s

March Madness resumes with some great matchups tomorrow and Friday plus Yanks & Mets both play their openers at 1 pm tomorrow.

Much needed and very welcome distraction from whatever is going to shake out with the program in the next week or two. I'm looking forward to a little baseball in the afternoon and hoops in the evening.

Love the quote below by Bruce Pearl about UNC philosophy, particularly the importance of not giving up offensive rebounds.
Like most people who watch North Carolina play, Auburn coach Bruce Peal is impressed with how quickly the Tar Heels play and how fast they get down the court to begin their offense. "If you watch Roy (Williams), he doesn't get upset very often,'' Pearl said. "But when he does, it's when his team gives up an offensive rebound (because) you took an opportunity away for them to get a basket. They look at every defensive rebound as three seconds away from a layup.'' But Pearl said the Tigers will also try to play at a fast pace Friday night when the teams meet in the Sweet 16 in Kansas City. "We can't slow down because that's how we try to play also,'' Pearl said.

Then NC should schedule us they wouldn't even have to give a second thought to not giving up offensive rebounds.

Heard on the radio today that one of the brackets submitted on NCAA.com or org or something is perfect going into the gamest today. Don't believe anyone has been perfect through the first weekend in a while. Two folks on ESPN only got 1 game wrong in the first round and had the entire sweet 16.

Re the Sweet 16 games just read Nas Little has the flu and might not play.

I heard that too. They said the odds were something like a billion to one.

While we're at it congrats to Weatherman and Jackfro for picking perfect sweet sixteens in the Redmen.com ESPN Tourney bracket. Weatherman's other bracket on ESPN sucks by the way.

Watching Florida State and Leanord Hamilton keeps reminding me of the guy in the Roots that play for Jimmy Fallon Show

This Tennessee/Purdue game is tremendous. This is the 3rd B10/SEC game in the Tourney already that has involved a big double digit comeback. Maryland came back against LSU even took a late lead before losing at the end. Tennessee blew a huge lead to Iowa before winning in OT and now here UT was down 18 in 2nd half to Purdue and have stormed back...

This one was my favorite just now and I only watched since about 5 minutes left in regulation
