NCAA Breakdown & Matchups

As much as we all want Xavier to lose, unfortunately it's likely in our best interest to root for them. The better they and all other Big East teams do, the better our conference looks.

LIU-Brooklyn first team voted off the Island. Not to pick on the kid but I heard one of their players interviewed on Sunday night and he said they were not happy to just have made the tournament (with a record of 18-16) but wanted to win the National Championship. Well they fell just 67 spots from accomplishing that goal.

As much as Xavier has one coming to them next season, I hope they win it all! I bet them on 2 separate tickets of $150 at 40-1 odds when I was in vegas last summer, Pays 6k each. If Providence miraculously ships it, I win 12k. lol I bet on the johnnies too :(

Not sure about the ‘tooth’ (a guy like Macura should have but 1), But that’s my ‘final’ with Nova winning 86-82.

Bonnies about to beat UCLA. Up by 7 with 11 seconds to go. Great win for the Northeast and for non-Power 5 teams across the country.

St. Bonaventure knocks off UCLA. Coach Schmidt is very good and he put together a good team in Olean NY.
No excuse not to be able to replicate that success in NYC. NONE!

I hate Xavier too but one thing that lessened my anger was an interview I heard with Chris Mack a few days ago. They asked him about the end of our game and he said that nothing happened and that the one SJU player he ran into outside the locker room was Shamorie who congratulated him on the win. Totally dismissed all the rumors. I still can’t stand the guy, but it was nice to hear him squash the rumors.

From what I heard, those weren't rumors. Mack's comments sound more like damage control or revisionism than anything else. Nevertheless, will be rooting for Xavier to make it to the title game against Nova ... and lose it, of course.

Is this about dropping out of the Big East and joining a mid-major conference?
I kid, I kid.

Good points, 72. One of the foundations of Program building is to have Playersfir 4 Years . Providence , Nova , Xavier , etc in our BE all seem to go this route in recruiting . The one and doners must be replaced every year and that requires a retooling effort that only the Kentucky’s do . It would be great to get top notch Metro NY /NJ kids but, many of the best go off to Prep Schools and Basketball mills . Getting the 4 Star and occasional 5 Star player is what builds success . It’s harder to do than you think .

Not NCAA T, but interesting tidbit reflecting college hoops potential practice perhaps. From So. Cal Twitter account;

Statement from USC head coach Andy Enfield: “Chimezie Metu has made a personal decision not to participate in the NIT as a precautionary measure to eliminate the risk of injury leading up to the NBA Draft.”

In FCKG credible!
One of the factors we used to fire Lavin was the absence of Obekpa in an NCAA game. AND poor Obekpa was grounded for taking an extra toke out of the bong that Rysheed Jordan passed to him. Luck of the draw.:( ;)

I see the practice has now spread itself to college basketball. It started a year or two ago in college football, where a handful players have sat out in bowl games (of course, non-playoff bowl games), so to not risk injury as they prepared for the NFL Draft.

Where's the competitiveness?

Might find it under the first round guaranteed contract. :)
Go Bonnies! Mike Vaccaro's team and he's a big rooter for the Johnnies.
Agree. Cheered them on last night. Had to love the zone with matching man defense coach Schmidt switched to. Wouldn't mind seeing that with the Johnnies.
