There's the punch line.

I heard the Committee preferred the orange mascot to Traveler the USC horse. You know their is some controversy as the horse's name is similar to Robert E Lee's horse's name.

60% of a conference's teams in the Big Dance is very respectable. Now if SJU was one of them it would be even better. I am hoping for another title for the BE as it would be great for the conference.

I always root for the BE teams to do well in this thing. It certainly has not always been the case, including our last few trips.

On the bright side at least tuesday will be worth watching and rooting for LIU

Per Jerry Carino
Injury update: Jordan Walker's season is over; he'll have surgery on the hand. Desi went through 80 percent of the practice and by all accounts is ready to play a major role Thursday.

A very, very dim bright side ... but, I guess, if you stretch the definition of "bright side" ...

Am I really that bad? Paultz, we'll have to meet for a drink (or two) in the future so you can see what a cockeyed optimist I really am. ... Well, with some serious reservations, of course ... :(

The friend who runs the biggest pool I'm in every year instructed anyone who sends him a check for their entry fee to say in the memo line that it is for his son's school walkathon.

A few upsets I like because I know you all care:

(10) Butler over (7) Arkansas
(11) UCLA/St. Bon winner over (6) Florida
(11) Arizona State/Cuse winner over (6) TCU
(11) Loyola-Chicago over (6) Miami
(12) South Dakota State over (5) Ohio State
(12) New Mexico State over (5) Clemson
(13) Charleston over (4) Auburn)

Any BE Team but, Xavier would be good with me . I have Nova winning it all over Virginia . With Xavier and Duke the other 2 in final 4 . NCAA credibility ? That’s a oxymoron . Every year Duke and NC get to play in virtually their own backyard . Oklahoma is a awful selection despite Trae Young . Losing 13 out of last 15 is almost 0-11 like us . If we finished 7-11 in the BE would we get a bid ? Wins over Duke , Nova and Butler . Almost wins over SH and Xavier, Creighton .

Nova disappoints far too often so I don't have my hopes up. When they are clicking, they are enormously fun to watch. They compete with Duke for the whitest bench. My rooting interests:

1) Villanova - surprise surprise
2) Any big East team
3) Macura to get his teeth knocked out :)
4) Gonzaga
5) Michigan St. only because a coworker went there and followed Clark all year at SJU

Ouch per UVA !

That's a huge chunk of points to lose from a team that doesn't score a whole lot. If someone solves their defense -- even if it's just for a half -- Hunter's points will have been crucial.
