More Jordan Problems?

Does anyone really want a repeat of Jordan's first 2 years--the good and the bad?
I'll pass. Let's move forward.

I still want him here. You're probably right and I'd be setting myself up for disappointment but I'm not ready to cut the cord yet. He's the most naturally gifted player we've had in years and when Jordan is playing at the top of he's game he looks like he can outplay Kris Dunn. Consistency is the issue and I want one more year to see what Mullin can do with him. In my humble opinion it's worth it. I'm saying this not because I have faith in Jordan but more because I have faith in Mullin. Seems like people are saying Jordan is most likely out but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pulling for him to stick around. I don't think we compete for a tourney bid without him this year so if he qualifies, why not keep him on a very short leash and see how he responds?

Would you still want him if he costs us Mussini? We know this would be Jordan's last season is he be worth the trouble for one more year at the expense of a four star kid we might have for a few years? Can we count on him or will he disappear to Philly for a few weeks before key games. Will he attend classes? I also sought of want him back but part of me says just turn the page especially if we can get Mussini and the staff is confident of Lovett being eligible.

That's a good question. I really like Mussini's game and will be thrilled if we get him. And yes Jordan has a couple of strikes already so if everyone is content to part ways that's of course understandable. If Jordan leaves and we end up with Mussini I'll still be happy with the direction the program is going.

I'm just pointing out that a few weeks ago everyone was saying that the most important recruiting that Mullin did was getting Jordan and Obekpa back. We just graduated a senior who had problems at the end of his sophomore year and rebounded to become a team leader and one of the all-time leading scorers. I also may be in the minority here, but I think Jordan is a really special player. Like Jordan could be a lottery pick if he can get his head on straight and fulfill his potential. Maybe Jordan qualifies, comes back and flames out. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. But also maybe we get a Rysheed Jordan who realizes he's made a mess of things and comes in determined and ready to get to work like Harrison did. Also, I think the change in leadership (Mullin) is big. Sometimes a head case just needs the right people around them. Look what JR Smith has been doing in Cleveland.

Jordan needs Mullin as much as Mullin needs him.

If we win 15-17 games next year only nut jobs will hold it against Mullin. So Jordan would seem to need ST John's more than Mullin needs him. That does not mean Jordan will do anything to help himself or even if he can at this point.

Harrison wasn't as much of a mess as Jordan is.

Respect other opinions on this, but I welcome cutting bait with Jordan very soon, getting commitment from Mussini & taking a shot at "Big Papa". It is all about long term success.

If in fact its a either or deal, and coming from you I believe it, with Mussini/Jordan than I would lean towards agreeing. I just hate giving up on 5 star talented guards. Kid has made plenty of mistakes but he sure as hell hasnt had it easy.

Respect your thoughts & agree 5 star kids don't grow on trees.

Even though I want to see Jordan get one more shot, I can totally understand wanting to move on. Getting Mussini and/or Papa would be awesome. Like you said, long term success is the goal and that would certainly be another great move in that direction. Excited to see how things shake out.

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Mully already tell the team you all have a clean slate with me ? Now, Jordan pulls this before even a day of practice. Not doing to much to impress the new coach i see. I don't need the constant headaches and danger of putting the school in any sanctions....as far as I'm concerned, Mullin doesn't need Jordan as much as Jordan needs Mullin...and its not even close! Mully is loved in this area and will be here a long time, 5 star recruits who think they are bigger than any program are a dime a dozen......cut the string!

Are you certain that Jordan "pulled this" after Mullin arrived? Is it possible that he dug too deep a hole missing classes prior to Mullin's arrival?

If Lovett is eligible, Mussini becomes less important. If Sheed realizes his mistakes and rectifies the situation and becomed eligible, I would rather have Jorden and Lovvett and pass on Mussini. We can recruit another pg next year and not have 2 in the same class. A solid year will jump start our rebuilding and silence the opposing coaches who argue Mullin has no coaching exp. In reality, a tough call, because nobody has a crystal ball. Smart staff and will make the best decision based on the facts on hand.

if mussini is as good as advertised got to lock him up when we have a chance. id love to have 3 awesome guards who can play the 1 or 2

Here is the thing. 'Rectifying" this problem seems to me something that will potentially bite the program in the ass down the road

I'm all for cutting bait.

New staff should start with a clean slate. We're not going to be a tournament team next season. What good does having Jordan for a half of a season (at best) do for us in the long term?

I wish him the best of luck, but SJU is probably better off without him.

Even if he busts his butt in summer and fall semester to get eligible, I guarantee some of us will complain that him returning second semester will disrupt our new-found team chemistry with LoVett and Mussini.

I don't think Mussini comes if Jordan remains.

Why would this be the case? We can go with a 3-guard lineup--Mussini, Jordan, LoVett--once Jordan becomes eligible. Mussini will have the added benefit of establishing himself as the starter during the first semester when Jordan is ineligible.

Only he can answer that, but I believe he is waiting for Jordan situation to be clarified. Otherwise, I think he would have committed already.
