More Bad News Coming?

Rysheed just tweeted Phil is leaving, guess it's true.

This is really weird. Highly unusual for a junior starter who has earned more playing time than he deserves to transfer for his senior year. The only thing that I can think of is that someone else is coming in to take his place.

Unless the NCAA has decided to allow players to become free agents, I don't think there is anyone left out there to scare Phil into leaving. The players are leaving the school faster than the rats leaving the lower decks of the Titanic. Never saw anything like it. You leave because you think the whole program is shot, or you despise the coaching staff, or you heard the coach is bailing out faster than the rats. No damage control from the coach or AD. Can't wait to see how Lavin spins this when he finally surfaces. May just have to start a thread. Or maybe not. C.A. and MSG will be ghost towns next season. Everyone can hide their heads in the sand if they want. These guys are leaving like middle managers from a dying company. I've seen that happen, and it looks just like this.

I would think this organization has to comment on the "state of the program" this week.

We are one Harrison transfer from being the worst team in the Big East as well as one of the weaker teams in the metro area (Iona, Manhattan, Fordham, Columbia) all look better and I am sure I am missing a few.

Jordan, Branch, Pointer and Harrison are the only the legit big east caliber players we have on the roster. It's crazy.

No doubt. Someone has to step up and say something. It's not just something you can sweep under the carpet, more than half your team is gone...

Just a question, not saying that it is what I would like to see happen but what would you guys think about adding Mike Rice to the staff or even having him replace Lavin in the future?
The thought passed my mind when I saw D'Lo post a pic saying, "just worked out with coach rice himself."

No chance.

The question that keeps bugging me is: why?

Same here. Sampson going pro - bad idea but not shocking. Hooper transferring - a bit odd but not a big loss. Obekpa - not good but potentially a bad apple that needed to go. But Greene?!?!

As an alum, I find this fiasco more embarrassing than anything else. I have no faith whatsoever that we will ever be relevant again.

Not shocked at anybody leaving. I surmise that Greene wants the ball In his hands and if Jordan stays, that is not going to happen. The possibility also exists that Branch might surpass him next year.

No matter how you may try to spin this, the program appears to be in disarray (and that's putting it mildly).

Remember in the fall about four years ago, I couldn't wait to log in to this site to see who was coming. That falling Spring I couldn't wait to see how the commits did in all-star games. Now it is the reverse, I log in to see who is going and who is not. :(

As a fan, it's incredibly disappointing that this mini-era, the Harrison-era, will have passed without even an NCAA appearance. If you would've told this board that two or three years ago, there would be unanimous agreement that you were crazy.

All that is left from those first two recruiting classes, the ones heralded as program changing ...are dangelo and dom .

Btw, I don't know how anyone hasn't mentioned this; but it obviously all comes back to wearing a tie. That should've been the first sign to us. ;)

Desco, believe me I share your frustration and that of many others on this board. But I'm not prepared to just yet write off next season. I'm going to wait and see how this all plays out before I will think that next year will be a bust.

But I do agree totally with your later post. If only he had been wearing a tie this season, things would have been oh so different! :silly:

It seems clear that the players, as a group, have decided that they want nothing to do with Lavin or his staff.

We can rationalize all we want, but yes.

And the question is, as many have been asking, why??? What is going on???? I've never seen anything like this.
