More Bad News Coming?

We don't need another guard at all Jordan and Harrison should and will play the majority of the minutes with branch getting minutes as well. That's a solid 3 guard rotation and we still have Felix. We just need to concentrate on bigs now.

And if we he an injury?

We have four guards as of right now on the team, if someone gets injured that still leaves us with a 3 guard rotation anyway. A big problem for us this year was lavin not finding a rotation quick enough which failed to bring any chemistry early on. Won't be a problem next year .

Isn't bigger issue here what is going on with our staff & program stability? Remember if we add a bunch of unproven guys to complement Jordan, Dee & Branch, it will take a highly skilled coach IMO to put these pieces together. Just don't see that. Some coaches are very adept at overachieving. I'm not sure SL is one of those.

I actually forgot about Felix. A 4 guard rotation is fine. We will also have Lipscomb. We will have 3 bigs on scholly (4 if Joey gets one). Our biggest need will be some wing players that can shoot.

I am so shocked that Phil would transfer. He has been given more pt than he could have ever imagined. He also doesn't seem like the disgruntled type. That's why I'm wondering if he knows that someone is being brought in to replace him.

I honestly think Rysheed may leave also since Phil is gone @TheoRabinowitz

So, who is going to hold the ship together and make sure things don't disintegrate with Jordan? DLO? Lavin is in Dallas doing his TV gig.

Look at who he roomed with.

100 percent correct.
Phil who is one of the lowest ranked players on the team and has gotten 25 minutes a game for 3 years now leaves.
This speaks volumes about the program and the poor state it is in. Phil got preferred treatment. Opposing coaches will have a field day with Lavin. Extension or no extension recruiting the level of player we need to be an NCAA team will be super difficult going forward.

At least no one is bored following this program. By the way...you left out the top returning player. Dom's going to get 40 minutes next year. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Seriously, as bleak as things look how many would have predicted UConn playing tomorrow night? No one. Not even Jim Calhoun.

Lavin and staff are long shots. No doubt, but who knows in this sport. It has been harder to predict with the roster turnover that takes place these days.

I remember watching the Red Storm Report feature on Jordan--I was curious to actually hear him speak, since Lavin had the muzzle on him all season. Anyway, I'm pretty sure he stated that he and Phil were roommates and gave the impression that Phil and Obekpa were mentors.

When I was with members of the team after the Xavier fiasco and asked how Rysheed was it was Phil who jumped to his defense and immediately asked how I knew about the murder. Phil is a great kid and his teammates love him.
He deserves far better treatment than he got from this board.

Not that long ago the handful of posters that questioned Lavin were either dismissed or mocked. I don't read many disciples of Mr. Lavin boasting about what a great recruiter he is any more.

The StJohns program is in shambles and that has been evident for many months to anyone who was objective.

Unfortunately StJohns seemingly lacks the institutional leadership to make the moves necessary to cleanse the basketball program but hopefully the new president that will be named in 6+/- weeks will understand that prompt changes in the Athletic Department are warranted and will take necessary actions.

There is no good way for the Lavin disciples to spin the past season much leads the last month for StJohns men's basketball.

Paul should be selling advertising banners on this site for Xanax and Paxil. He's make a killing on commissions for people clicking on the banners

Agreed Otis. I'm not even sure that the defections are done. We could be stuck with a roster loaded with 2 star level talent next year. And since Lavin has not been able to develop the 4 star talent either individually or collectively, I don't know how anyone can think that he'll be able to blend the 2 star talent in to a cohesive unit. We are going to be in dire straits with kids like Joey, Adonis, Tyler, Felix, etc all expected to get major minutes next year. Jordan and D'Lo, if they stick around, are both going to use next year to elevate their stock. The future looks very bleak.

This team will go as far as Jordan and D'Lo take them. Keep those two and some depth behind them and just add 2-3 guys up front that can defend, rebound, and things will be fine for next season.

I'd rather give our guards Sampson's shots and have a kid like Thomas down low to rebound than have Sampson shooting from 17 feet with Pointer and Sanchez on the three point line and zero chance at an offensive rebound. You guys are acting like we are losing Cleanthony Early and Jabari Parker.

I am not sure if the issue is who is leaving and how good they are. The question to me is why are they leaving? Something is obviously wrong with the program and something needs to be said by someone in authority soon!

Do they have the skills to carry this team? No doubt about it. I honestly believe that DLo has the Shabazz Napier in him to make a run and be that type of player. And Jordan should be even better next year. My only concern is what happens when one of these guys has an off night, or when opposing coaches start to focus on these two. Who else do we have to step up? Is there anyone else on the roster that can give us 8-10pts a game, and an occasional 20pt game?
