Monasch Out

@TimBontemps: Have heard that Pete D'Alessandro will be next AD at St. John's for some time, as @WojYahooNBA and others have said

Sources: Sacramento Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro - who lost authority to Vlade Divac - will be a significant candidate for St. John's AD job.

Has SJU roots.

I think there were specific reasons for his dismissal + some at SJU are pleased - others in this site know better than I
- but the main thing is an effective successor...what are D's SJU roots?

You know things in red are hyperlinks, right? Otherwise call me and I'll read you his wikipedia page. ;)
I was born before hyperlinks were invented? Sausage links yes, hyperlinks no
:)

Wonder if the Jordan fiasco sealed his fate.

That would be silly. More likely that Bobby wanted to upgrade the position and the department and was waiting for the school year to be over.

I'm with Desco. As much as I hate CA, it is not worth $50 million to build another on campus arena for the little bit of usage it gets. $5 million got us a new lobby and some red butt cups.

Don't spend any more money on something that eventually will have to be totally redone. That is throwing money away.

Good luck Chris Monasch. Thank you for your service to St. John's University. Our athletic department is in good shape and we are nationally competitive in all of our sports.

Sometimes it is just time to shake things up to see if someone could lead an organization to new heights.

Good sentiment Marillac.

Monasch certainly positioned all the sports to be competitive going forward.
Perhaps President G and Chris M want to work with someone of their own choosing. I can't fault them for that.

But Monasch did a good job in many respects.

A Manetta type (good guy, administrative AD and fundraiser) would be better than a webzine type (good guy, fundraiser but a poor administrative AD).

If D'allensandro is hired, he would join the Matt A. as a former student basketball team support "staff" hired to a key position. So was Manetta and I believe Monasch.

@RogRubin: St. John's to replace AD Chris Monasch. Alienating PGA star Keegan Bradley was among his missteps. NYDN:http://t.co/YuWtpz95Nf.

It seems to me - an acknowledged 'outsider' and non-SJU grad "just a fan" - that it would be untenable to have superlative people as President and as Head Bball Coach and a considerably lesser level occupant in the third key position of athletic power. Simply needed an upgrade.

Just another indication that we are headed into the "big boy" high quality rarified atmosphere - it is possible and probably for St John's to be in this class
And now with Bobby G and Chris M
It is inevitable.
Just such a nice time to be a fan....no not of "the Cuse" or UConn...but of NYC's team.

Priceless. Priceless.
