Pretty obvious SJU was not willing/didn't have money to bring in a big name AD

yeah I kind of agree with this. Don't know exactly why we need to hire interim AD. Seems his main qualification is legal for the school

I guess on the bright side if the school gets sued by someone sitting in the upper sections of carnesseca for heat stroke from a game then this is the right AD to represent the school

Making a big ASSUMPTION about not willing to spend or don't have the money. Maybe they have someone lined up who can not come on board just yet. We have no idea who they have targeted and what the plan is going forward for this position.

I strongly disagree that it's anything close to an assumption. I've heard myself, that the university as a whole is facing some serious financial troubles, currently and in the near future.

You keep spewing this nonsense, but where are the facts to back it up? The SJU endowment grew from 416 million in 2013 to 644 million in 2014.

It won't be nonsense. I'm not declaring the school bankrupt or saying its happening tomorrow, but heard directly from a huge supporter of the school that this was the case.

I'm just glad I read this article about the AD rather than heard about it verbally...phonetically, "Joe Oliva (Alleva)" would have made me think we stole the LSU AD (and former Duke AD).

It's been discussed a lot here. The school has had problems for several years, first with huge losses in the stock market after an adjustment. Pretty sure they've made that back and then some. However, they have an enrollment shortfall of about 500 students, largely attributed to the fact that student loan rates have increased. Many private schools have expereinced the same sort of issue.

Plus ROI at $50K per year doesn't seem to be there. Most schools facing the same problem.

A strong Basketball team goes a long way towards fixing this. Sometimes you need to make that big investment in the future to see that growth

What he was likely referring to was the downtick in enrollment that literally almost every school in the country is experiencing. That is a side effect of a good economic climate. The positive, of course, is endowments grow with better market conditions. It's not all bad.

SJU needs to make some adjustments and show better vision for the future. A lot of us are hopeful that Bobby is the man to get that done.
