Mo and Draft

From what I remember, Alonzo Morning had some pretty low stats @ GU. Didn't turn into a bad NBA player... Barnes is going to be the bust of the draft along with whoever selects Rivers.

Um....no.

Alonzo put up 21.3 pts, 10.7 rebs, shot 59.5% from the floor, shot 76% on FTs, and blocked 160 shots as a senor.

You're probably thinking of that underachiever Patrick Ewing Sr., who only put up 14 pts and 9 rebs as a Gtown senior.
That was going off memory, not looking up sports-reference.

I am almost to Francessa at the Rock. I have a huge SJU banner. Please post if you see it! I am told they keep showing different angles. I want to get it on YES screaming for Moe.

GOD I hate when "experts" throw out stats and no clue what they're talking about.

GOD I hate when "experts" throw out stats and no clue what they're talking about. Watchin ESPNU's draft show. Steven A Smith talking about Harrison Barnes: "He's not going to be a bust, but he's not going to be a star, either. Just a decent pro. 17-20 pts, 6 or 7 rebounds - that's his ceiling".

I was PRAYING for SOMEONE among the Talking heads to ask him if he was saying Barnes was going to be another Scottie Pippin or James Worthy or Jamal Wilkes or Chris Mullin -- you know, guys who put up 17-20 pts and 6-7 rebs? Just "decent pros" - Pippin was 16.6 / 6.3. Worthy was 17.6 /5.1. Wilkes was 17.7/6.2. Chris was 18.2 / 4.1. All four are Hall of Famers.....

Lol... Good point. And if I told people that the much maligned God's Gift Achiuwa's stats aren't far off from Andre Drummond's they probably wouldn't believe it either...

Which is another perfect example why stats are completely meaningless.

100% completely disagree. Stats are complely meaningFULL. It's just that you actually have to WORK to get the true meaning from them, not just simply take them at face value.

There is no true meaning of stats; they just are. The only way to judge a player is to see them play, game in and game out, see how they contribute to winning or losing, which are the only stats.

In case you're wondering, Moe Harkless is here -- just outside the "green room" in stands, sitting next to Steve Lavin #stjbb

Great to here he's there with coach and not deterred by not being invited to the green room. Should be hearing his name called within the next 20 minutes

I like the fit with the Sixers. Good young team with some talent and a coach who will play him and work him,

For those of you who didn't listen to ESPN.. one of the commentators said that the team is looking to trade Andre Iguodala so the young pieces can grow together... which would be great for Maurice because they play at the same position.

Doug Collins is a good coach. It seems like he'll be in good hands.

Awesome! From a year ago to today is a testament to Moe and the staff. But let's be clear here...I don't think any other school would have helped him to go top 15! I'm glad I have a friend who has sixers season tix!

Agreed, this is great news. Way to go Moe.

So happy for Moe and his family! Can't wait to see him flourish as a pro, playing down the pike from us. Amazing what 2 full seasons under Steve Lavin has done for STJ! This is only the beginning.
