Mo and Draft

Hollinger came out with his PER style rankings of prospects. Moe didn't fare very well being ranked 35 overall and garnering a mention in the column as follows:

On the wings, a few potential first-rounders also fare poorly. Moe Harkless of St. John's had one of the worst ratings of any first-round prospect. While the error rate on one-and-done players has been higher, the difference between Harkless and the other lottery candidates is well outside the standard error of the Rater.

link? Does he metrics work on draft prospects?

Insider Access. He says it works pretty well. Notes some hits and misses but relatively well.

Jay Bilas from ESPN also listed his top prospects for the draft. He listed Mo as #19. He says:

Harkless is really talented and athletic. He has good rise and the ability to get to the rim going right, and he can rebound at a high rate. He was guarded mostly by interior players, which gave him a driving advantage, but he is good in transition and has the ability to be a really good and versatile defender. Harkless lacks physical strength and is not a shooter or handler, and he needs to be able to drive it to his left and finish, but he has a willingness to work and can improve those areas.

Chad Ford just posted his NBA Mock Draft (Insider) version 8.0.

He has Harkless going #22 to Celtics.

Zags saying Golden State, Portland, and Sacremento show interest. That is picks 5, 6, 7, and 11!

Chad Ford mock 9.0 out today has Mo going 16 to the Rockets.

Have any two "experts" picked the SAME destination for him? These guys all claim inside info, but man - seems they're all just tossing darts at the board....

Maybe the Bobcats do trade back if they get something of good value for a roster player and take Moe with whoever they trade with. Coach Dunlap has seen a tiny bit of his play in person.

Rockets just picked up the 18th pick from the TWolves.. Rockets trade the 14, 16, and 18 picks to Bobcats for no 2. Mo goes to the Bobcats at number 14. And Austin Rivers goes after 14 as I am not giving up my fried twinkies or oreos for a month.

The rockets are going after Dwight Howard. The Bobcats didn't trade anything yet...

That was all hypothetical except for the twinkies part :eek:hmy:

Is anyone actually planning on going to the draft? Looks like I'm probably gonna have a little group going to cheer on Moe and just experience the draft since it's something we've never done before.

Rick Majarius, Highly connected coach of St. Louis Univ & well respected in the NBA gave an interview a few months back to Mike Francessa on WFAN in which he said he "really liked Mo" and thought he had a "tremendous upside".

So much will depend on how his work outs/interviews went with individual teams. If they went well, I think he'll go TOP 20.

Haven't read any speculation on this, but what are the chances Mo is drafted early, then traded once the whole draft shakes out. Had it happen with a couple players I've followed on draft night - most notably Kevin Love being swapped for OJ Mayo after the draft.

In other words, where Mo's drafted isn't as important as where he ends up. ;)

Very true. Predictably of late teams seem to be moving toward the chalk choices and Moe could actually wind up on a decent team looking for long term potential.
