I know. It was a stupid Daily News headline.Pres. Ford never said that.
The NIL didn’t say that either by the way.

That's what Duke is paying flagg?A local high school kid is supposedly getting 750k to go to big school, the Earp brothers need to come back to life
Edgecombe is roughly getting that number from Baylor. That's what Duke is paying flagg?
wowwwwww. Didn't know that, thanks.Edgecombe is roughly getting that number from Baylor.
St. John’s receiving seven-figure NIL lifeline from billionaire alum Mike Repole: ‘Whatever it takes’
Mike Repole breaking his own news on X that he planned to donate seven figures for St. John’s Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) deals for next season.nypost.com
You definitely need the "F".... no where near the same impact as "LG!!!!!!".... we're all big boys... it's sports... part of the culture(Mike R, like Pete Alonso, drop the "F" in the "LFG!!!!!!", you can add even more exclamation points instead, it doesn't have a good look for Polar Bear either.)
By the time that gets built 80% of those on this board won't be alive to enjoy it. F the arena get me a teamJust hope it’s not like the Mike Francesa donation. I’ll settle for the on campus brand spanking new Mike Repole Arena.
Zach’s access btw to Repole has always been strong.
With Rick and Repole you obviously are dealing with huge egos. Both could be game changers for the program getting to a positive level. Rick had a bad week, but you have to believe based on his track record he will get SJ hoops on right path within a few years.
To me the guy often in the shadows of these two huge egos is Father Shanley. It was no easy task, as Jersey Shore Johnny knows so well, to achieve Board consensus in rebuilding Repole relationship and the Pitino hiring. Sometimes it is not the people who suck the oxygen out of the room who truly effect change, but quiet, humble, and strong leaders who really move the needle. All this while administering and building the University, thx Father Shanley!
Let's see what whales we get this Spring before we anoint him that.Man, talk about the hero riding in on his horse to save the day....
If he is talking to the board, he should be on the other end of the horse!A live look at Repole addressing the STJ Board:
What finalized the deal with Repole was his insistence having that horse become the new midcourt logo.A live look at Repole addressing the STJ Board:
There is no board relationship building with Repole. NIL is separate and distinct from any BOT activities. It's great that Repole is supporting NIL, but don't confuse that with him suddenly embracing the board and vice versa. Repole wants us to win, and willing to put up NIL dollars. He's friendly with Rick and on board with him being here.Zach’s access btw to Repole has always been strong.

Shanley for his part is friendly with who he has to be friendly with, namely big donors. If Repole wants to be a major benefactor for facilities, that would be great. At this point, though, there is no bridge to restore the relationship with the board who he torched, manynof whom are still in place, and others still major supporters without the public bluster.
