Greg shined in his limited opportunities this year and I feel if given the chance he would have been great. He has excellent court vision , a good ball handler , and is great going to the basket! Ponds was not a great distributor, more of a combo guard. Simon was not a ball handler, much too much careless unprovoked turnovers. Greg will shine, mark these words, give him a chance under this new coach.
Fred I don't know about shining as our point guard but I do know he plays with confidence and never seemed hesitant even though he didn't get a tremendous amount of playing time. Loved his slashing and dunking after a missed shot.
So Williams is staying?
If you look at his fathers twitter feed it certainly looks like he is
Thanks, you mean well, but really :)
I don’t do twitter and I don’t do feed
You might recall - me = alum of the same place ( and age) as Blue Devil Coach K
And so
I do transistor radios, 33 1/3 record albums
( my first was Dion’s Runaround Sue wearing a green plaid shirt leaning on a white picket fence ), no pop top cans, no remote controls, and our computers at West Point were the size of the men’s room at Alumni Hall :)

Go Storm!

All the best!

SS&G, sounds like we are close to contemporaries. You talk about 33 1/3 record albums, which is a case of what goes around comes around. I made the move to CDs in the late 1980s along with the rest of the world. Now all of my kids are back to listening to LPs and have turntables and I am the only one in the family who buys CDs. Amazing! Always enjoy your memory lane posts!

Zach's article in today's NY Post has quotes from Heron and LJ. Their comments indicate that they remain undecided.

Posted this following yesterday's presser, but I was wary of LJ's stoic body language while standing behind CMA. I'm sure he's considering offers from some pretty good programs.
Yea but consider he hadnt even met or spoken with Mike Anderson prior to that press conference. So while it was a positive that he was there, he probably had not yet made up his mind.

General, you're not as out of it & unhip as you think you are: 33-1/3 LPs have made a huge comeback among young people, who prefer them to CDs (and they cost a pretty penny). Now, if you're still spinning 78's or Dion's 45's, that would be a different story.

PSA: Under new NBA Draft rules, players are allowed to retain an agent to guide them through the process and then terminate them later on if they wish to return to school.

There won't be significant clarity to who will be back for 19-20 until late May

I really hope Simon comes to his senses and returns, he is not going to get drafted this year. Comeback play one more year in a system that he would thrive in and maybe he has a shot at the NBA.

I think the issue would be since he already signed an agent, he'd have to pay him back if he returned to school. Not sure what arrangement was worked out though.

Nice piece, Paultz. Thanks.
Reaffirms my view that he once again—like at UAB—has something to prove.
And I don’t think it’s the Kool-Aid influencing me.
Lol.

Just think about how busy CMA is right now. And just about all of these items are time sensitive!

*Connect with current players and their families
*Hire assistant coaches
*Find a place to live
*Reach out to current AAU, High School and JUCO contacts
*Reach out to local NYC AAU and High School contacts
*Formulate a list of immediate recruiting targets
*Formulate a list of long-term targets (2020-23)

Hopefully he can get a staff in place quickly, so he has help.

That's true for anyone who declares as early entrant. However, unless they do that by tomorrow (e.g. Heron, Keita), I think that means they are not eligible for NBA draft.

Here are some numbers to put into perspective the type of coach we are getting in Mike Anderson. In each of his 3 stints he had more success than his predecessors and successors with the exception of frank Haith who had a 30-5 record his first year at Mizzou with a roster built mostly by MA.

UAB
Bartow - 103-83 (55.4%)
ANDERSON - 89-41 (68.5%)
Davis - 123-73 (62.8%)
Hease - 80-53 (60.2%)
Ehsan - 57-44 (56.4%)
**MA 3 tourneys in 4 years. 2 for UAB since.

Missouri
Snyder - 126-91 (58%)
ANDERSON - 111-57 (66.1%)
Frank Haith 76-28 (73.1%) **first year 30-5 with team built mostly by Mike Anderson*
Kim Anderson - 27-67 (28.7%)
Martin - 35-29 (54.6 %)

Arkansas
Stan Heath - 82-71 (53.6%)
Pelphrey - 69-59 (53.6%)
ANDERSON - 169-102 (62.4%)

Agree 100% Mike. Fantastic reporting by Amaseinyourface. Those stats speak volumes about our new Coach and are exceptionally reassuring to read. CMA is working at 120% so far , hoping to hear more good news today. Boy have I become gready.
