I can't do another 8-10 years of rebuilding. Call me when we start winning again.
We hire a coach with over 15 years of HC experience, no losing seasons 11 20 win seasons and you complain and quit. Funny you have 1100 posts and not on even did you receive a thank you, kinda let's me know something
There's always one......
Ummm, I have been on here for over 15+ years. I have gotten many Thank Yous but they revamped the site 4 years ago and I stopped posting because I was sick and tired of the drama with this team. Ask some of the old timers, youngster.

One what? One who is sick and tire of losing because our program is so poorly run?

I can’t say I’ve seen his teams play much, but there is a lot of winning in his background. No complaints from me. I also cancelled a stress test that I had scheduled for next week as I figure that if I lived through the few hours that Paul Hewitt was a candidate I’m fit as a fiddle.

One admittedly super optimistic comparison I thought of was Texas getting rid of a Barnes, thinking he was not good enough. Figure if I’m going to dream, dream big.

There was only 1 person to hire and that was Pitino. Once again this school misses the boat and hires a nobody who has just been fired. After 50 years of watching SJU basketball as a SJU graduate, high school coach and fan, i am done with this inept university.

Whew!!!
Damn, I owe Oliva and Gempesaw apologies.
I railed at them earlier today!
I'll happily apologize and mean it!
Lol.
No Chicago, no apologies needed to them.
They needed to see that the whole sju fan base were sick of their shit, and we weren't going to put up with it anymore. The real hero in this to me was Mike Repole. Only after yesterdays interview people started e-mailing them that they wasn't going to donate anymore, and cancel their season tickets.
Repole was the leader that got everyone to speak up about their displeasure at sju.
So thank you again repole.

Ok Greg, sorry you feel that way about the hire. Not sure who you hoped would realistically be the choice. Didnt know about the revamp so I take back the like comment, but I'm far from a youngster. In the meanwhile I'm gonna keep cheering this team, see you down the road

Think most agree, Pitino would have been a grand slam. Personally, wanted us to take a shot at him. But, if we’re not, Anderson is at least a HR.

Style of play will be key differentiator in recruiting.

1. Naysayers should give a guy with experience some breathing room. He is easily the most seasoned coach since Louie. He might fail... Who knows... But he had succeeded in a high level, not in the Ivy League or MAAC. I mean no disrespect to those coaches but Mike's resume is superior.

2. Calling out people on the board based on posts and likes isn't cool. People can disagree. You aren't criticizing me because I agree with you? I to have been here since '98. I just post a lot less these days because being in Ohio has me very much out of touch with NY. This is my lifeline. I guarantee if you take my posts from 98-02 it's well up into the thousands but even if it isn't, someone being disgruntled is their prerogative rather they have 111,111 posts or 1. No need to get personal.

Apparently Andy Borman is Coach K’s nephew... was mentioned on Twitter. Either way, SJU got it right here. Get it done and get this rolling. I hope Mike Anderson is willing to go out and work to grab the talent.
Yes and his grandfather was an astronaut, very close to Duke and Cragg
And West Point grads as was Coach K.
Interesting side note, Coach K was Army’s point guard when the Black Knights took buses ( circa 1968 ) to Alumni Hall and beat the Redmen!
At that time Army coaches included:
Bobby Knight
Bill Parcels
Arthur Ashe

( I was there - play on the great Walter Cronkite’s “You were there” refrain - for those old enough to remember)

All the best

I only meant that you were a youngster to this site.
I Graduated in 1976. I have been a fan ever since. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on this team. My heart and soul was in this team and they have let me down year after year after year. My son and grandchildren are fans of this team because of me. I am so done! Pitino is the the logical hire but this program is so afraid of not being squeaky clean after the Jarvis regime (20 years ago) that they won't make a good decision.

10 seasons of 22+ wins. I’ve never experienced a St. John’s season with 22 wins. And ever better I hope this means Cragg and Repole will build off this moving forward. Amen.

Pretty good hire. Especially watching the shit show the last couple of days. Keep most of our current players, add a couple of grad transfers and put together a nice staff and we are on the right track. Glad to see this hire is a popular choice w the posters.

And in that same time we’ve had 10 seasons where we’ve finished under .500. Mike Anderson has Zero!

I posted this on another thread. This article (see link below) was written back in December ranking the 353 Division One head coaches from bottom to top. FYI Mike Anderson was rated 29th. FYI Mullin was 168th, Cluess was 82nd, Bobby Hurley was 62nd.

In the grand scheme of things I think we could have done much worse. Good Luck to Coach Anderson. Hopefully he can recruit the current roster and keep Figueroa, Heron etc. on board. If he can do this and then bring in a few additional players to make us competitive next year, he could keep his streak of being five hundred or better for seventeen seasons going. After that here is hoping we move onward and upward!

He's solid not sexy.
He's not gonna wow or win a presser. But he's well liked it seems
I'm tired of winning pressers. Just go out play and win. Love that he spent years under Nolan and has been successful since.

Let's also not just focus on Arkansas. Did great work at UAB and Missouri

Hey, Wikipedia has him as Head Coach of St. John’s as of April 18, 2019!
I’m celebrating!!!

Wasn't initially excited because I foolishly thought we could do better, but it really wasn't going to get much better than Anderson at this point.

I've been a diehard fan for at least 35 years now, and if we hired Jones I think I would have been pretty much done. There would have been no need for me to be here every single day. Get this done soon so he can go about the business of making calls to his team. Heron and Figgy could both thrive in his system. Williams too, and I don't want to lose him.

I wonder if there are Arkansas recruits who might switch to SJU?
I also wonder if we might bring back Mack and others into fold?
I wonder if Williams will now stay?

Wow how such a lousy week has suddenly turned into gold
Or at least silver :)
