Ponds would have benefited under CMA
agreed

Simon too. They both would've had outstanding years.

I actually thought Simon for the most part reached his full potential here. He seemed to be in peak physical shape and his defense was elite. He was never going to be a dominant scorer, he wasn't the type to look for his shot. His jump shot was what it was with the awkward form.

His mid range jumper was solid. Him and Ponds would've both probably been top 10 in the nation in steals. Not saying his overall offensive game would've improved much, but he was pretty good in the open court. Thinking he would have benefited from a year under CMA.

Agree that Justin was plenty well conditioned on his own but for sure CMA's style would have fit him like a glove. Notwithstanding, he will have a nice career overseas and get the best out of his talent.

Soriano looks a LOT leaner in the newest video.  That will bode well for him and us this season.  Getting him more mobile is important.

You can’t blame Joel for the success or failure of a bb program. He’s only a bb player who with the right training and coaching can help a team by playing the role he is needed for.

Really excited to see what Coach A can do with a really deep and talented roster. I just bought tickets to the Kansas game and still plenty of good seats available. Really looking forward to see what the team can do

Can't disagree. The thing you have to love about CMA is that he requires a lot out of his players (conditioning, early practices, etc), but it seems to help them reach their potential, for those who are willing to buy in.

it’s why I think guys like Wheeler, Mathis etc are going to look a lot better and do more in Mike Anderson’s system.  Neither kid were at places that played to their strengths, but rather in more half-court oriented styles.

it’s kind of surreal to think about how we have the top scorer in the conference and the best defender in the conference
And yet, we still only went 10-9 last year.  So either, the league is really tough (which it was), we were really young (which we were), or we lacked depth (not in numbers, but maybe in quality).

I think the first two issues have kind of taken care of themselves (though we still have a lot of newcomers, and in this system, that's tough), but if the depth is indeed improved, second in the Big East is not unreasonable (I don't think anyone's finishing ahead of Nova).

I think the big east will be much better this year. I think we are one of 5 teams with top 25 aspirations.

I think it will be stronger at the top, but maybe not as deep as it was last season.  Depaul was really the only bad team in the league last year.  This year could potentially be really bad for the likes of DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, and maybe even Butler (though they'll probably win enough home games to get by with a decent record).

I disagree. Butler brings everyone back and they finished the season well. They might be the most experienced team in the country.  Providence brings back the best big man in the league. Marquette upgraded their coach and brought in the A10 freshmen of the year and Big10 defensive player of the year. Creighton as the 8th or 9th best team in your league is a pretty damn deep league.
