If we get to 10-11 conference wins this season... Mike A has to be the Big East coach of the year right???

we were picked 9th preseason and have an opportunity to finish 3rd-5th

4 games to go and we have to be considered leader at moment for:
Coach of the year - CMA
Rookie of the year - Posh
Defensive player of the year - Posh
6th man of the year - Moore

Champ will probably get screwed but if he doesn’t make 1st team it’s criminal.

Don't think there is anything to worry about with Champ making 1st team All BE as he leads conference in scoring and averages 7 rebounds.

i know to us fans, accolades don't mean much, but getting COY, ROY, First Team, etc, gets us media attention and more importanly, gives CMA something to talk about with recruits.

besides his long storied history, these acccolades are being accomplished at SJU, where many thought he would not thrive.  having that proof, in the form of recognition, is a great thing for recruits to hear.

It would be fantastic, I agree with you 100%. There were so many doubters about CMA and for a multitude of reasons.
Having an NYC kid win BE Rookie of the Year, having CMA win coach of the year, having Julian win Big East Player of the year would raise our recruiting profile and appeal immensely. CMA and these kids deserve it and I pray it happens. He is a real good person and he deserves a very happy ending to his basketball career at SJU. I would love to see him get his 600th win at SJU as he approaches his 70 Birthday. How fitting would that be.

What I really want to see, , but it has been a long time, is an NCAA tournament victory.

Another thing about CMA that adds to the positivity is Mrs. Anderson who is a gracious person and fun to talk with who knows and loves the game.  Sure she is a plus in recruiting when parents are hearing the CMA story of family.

I think Champagnie is gonna be 1st team for sure and depending on how the end of this season goes Posh can play his way onto the 2nd team team. If the season ended right now they'd probably give Mamu Big East POY. I'm just guessing the two Villanova guys split their credit and Mamu gets the nod over Champangnie because he's a senior and now he's their whole team. They'd be lost without him. More lost than we'd be without Julian in my opinion. All that being said, our guy is close enough that if has another level to his game or just plays lights out down the stretch here he can make himself undeniable.

And of course winning is more important than all individual accolades. I'd also take 1 NCAA tournament win over all of them. For reasons others have said but also who doesn't like to be aknowledged for good performance? The most important thing with my work is that I'm compensated fairly and treated respectfully but I'll take any back pats and shoutouts I can get. Champagnie has said in interviews that coming into the season he wanted to be Big East POY how awesome would it be if he pulled that off? And Anderson getting COY after being doubted? Of course I'm rooting for that. How validating would that be for all these guys?

Nate Oates just received a contact extension and raise in his second season at Bama. Know of a former player of ours who has written the new President and AD Cragg advising that a contract extension is warranted for Iron Mike Anderson.

I'd much prefer him to be approaching 700 wins around that time.

Like I said it’d be criminal. But you figure the two nova guys plus Mamu are locks. Then there is zegarowski who leads the second best team and is super respected by the coaches. The 5th spot might come down to Champ, Bouknight, and the two Providence guys. He should be a shoe in but it’s the coaches making the picks.

I think that would require winning 30 games a year, a little on the ambitious side lol.

Actually a little more. I figure he will end this season with 405 wins at age 61. To win 295 games in 9 seasons is just short of 33 wins a season, an astronomical amount in 1 season, never mind to average over 9.
195 wins over the next 9 seasons is just under 22 per year which is a very respectable number for a starved fan base.

Shes also at every game, home or away. Love that!

While I was all aboard the CMA bandwagon in the beginning of the season I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about mot landing 4 star players ( forget 5 star ). But as SJUFAN2  brilliantly noted here we are year 2. Forget rankings. Julian freshman year was too 5 new comers in big East this year IMO the player if the year as a sophomore. Posh in my eyes too freshman in Big East and as defensive player if the year and I think one of the best freshman in the country IMO. Moore  as a Juco close if mot best 6th man with ton of upside. Cole while uo and down I'm still high in and he is definitely serviceable with IMO a lot of upside. Wusu completely unheralded and pretty much not even ranked and he it's obvious has ton of potential and I think is going to have an excellent 4 year careeer. So basically Chamo as a sophomore and Posh are playing like 5 star recruits Wusu let's say a 3 or 3+ with definitive upside and Moore super potential. Yeah rankings matter but so does a Coach who now has a serious track record of bringing in players playing WAY above their rankings

We're the only school in the history of the conference that had a 20/10 guy who didn't make first team, so nothing would shock me at this point.

Aside from that, should a guy who missed games with injury at a school that has already played a short schedule make first team?

I don't normally care too much about the accolades either... however Anderson caught so much shit from fans and posters during the offseason for recruiting and things like that...

him winning Big East COY like 6 months later... well thatd just be sweet

Cole has a lot of upside?  Not sure what you're seeing.  He has not improved.  Moore is the sixth man of the year?  While I like him a lot, I don't think he's even the sixth man on our team.

Moore is 7th on team in minutes 4th on team in scoring and second in team in rebounding

Him not being 6th man on our team is semantics. If you looked around the league he is most productive player off the bench during conference play. And it's really not close.
