If Posh wins BE rookie of the year , over much higher rated freshman , and Dylan is first team BE rookie, which again is very possible, it really gives him a great selling platform for 2022 recruiting. He can show how the 3 NYC high school kids he and staff recruited all became BE stars as rookies under his tutelage. The instant gratification that young people are looking for today.
the 2022 class will be large , how many who knows because of the extra year granted this season, but hoping coach can get commitments from some high level talent who are most importantly high character kids like those he has brought in to date.

Not to take away from your excellent post RMN, but regarding Wusu I don’t think he’ll be able to sneak into the top 5 or so freshmen in terms of stats this year. Maybe if he had more time with the way he’s trending. However his impact does go so much further than that and over recent stretch hes played more like a senior knowing his role opposed to a freshmen trying to fit in. I said it a few weeks back, what weakness does he have? Regardless, stats or not, I don’t think there’s 5 freshmen in the BE id take over him.
His court sense for a freshman is outstanding, not to mention his knack for making plays at key times.

And If I may add MCN just pointed out how we are leading the BE in offense which I too can't ever remember , though I am in my 39 th year as a devoted fan. Kids watching us just have to love this style of play. Uptempo , high scoring, pressure D , the freedom to shoot for the most part , sharing the ball, and 9-10 players getting solid minutes. You k ow that if you commit to SJU you are going to get minutes from day 1 in a high scoring up tempo offence. May not be perfect for a top 10 kid already looking at the league but certainly very appealing to everyone else.
I'm a big believer that winning breeds higher level of recuiting, and agree with everything you said. That being said, I still think we are going to struggle to land a certain type of kid. 5 star kids with an eye on the NBA from day one and 4 star players who are looking for a showcase for themselves for the NBA, this still isn't going to be the most appealing situation. Let's be honest, there are many kids out there who are focused on themselves first, and aren't going to want to put in the work that CMA requires nor will they want to put the effort in on defense. Plus, we still have other major challenges with recruiting compared to other schools that we are fighting an uphill battle againt.

Pretty clear to me that CMA has a fit for the type of kids he wants here anyway, and will be able to land the best of those he can get.

So true. His defensive help on the baseline and in post has been like having an extra PF out there.

I've said it in the past...once Iron Mike has a chance to establish a track record, he will get his share of top tier recruits.

There will be an occasional kid - NYC, The Universe/Galaxy
( I forget what the Toy Story Cowboy said )  - and beyond who choose St. John's because it's close to family and friends or simply because they want to play in the Big Apple - I think Louisiana's Greg Williams and the obvious local quad of Posh, Wusu, Julian and Dunn + the two JC All American types we have.

imo Williams would be having a BE honors type year but for his back injury.

of course more Ws would likely enhance recruiting.

all the best.

Just curious but where's Fordham gone?  He doesn't show up when we win?
He's on the list with about 5 other posters that only show up during the rough stretches

their DNA loves the critique and put downs and they, I would think, make abusive parents because the kids are rarely nurtured and often demeaned...furthermore imo...they disappear in good times because they are unable to compliment or praise...

I mean think about it, if a poster cannot be happy with this team and this positive stretch of games, under what circumstances would that poster be pleased?

We are second in the conference in scoring offense.  Take a snapshot for those seasons when we aren't quite looking dynamic on offense because the system is fine.  Need the right athletes and bball players.  Offense looks good with requisite talent.
without 1 5 star recuit too

5 is a mere number
and does not measure a kid's heart, coachability or desire to improve!
be well...

It will be interesting to see if this hit streak/press (especially if it continues) helps with 2022 recruiting. Jaquan Sandeds must be seeing the press Posh is getting.

A good friend of mine is an assistant at Christ the King and has told me many times that coach Arbitello Loves Mike Anderson. This is the best relationship St. Johns has had with CTK in a long while. Many of the other local coaches and AAU coaches love how he develops players. I forgot the exact story he told me but when CMA was hired he asked to come meet coach Arbitello and they have gotten along ever since.

I believe there was a tweet from the CTK Coach, maybe yesterday, praising the SJU's hiring of CMA, and stating the Fordham should make a hire of an experienced coach in a similar fashion.

I've been meaning to ask you have you heard anything from local coaches and what they have been saying about CMA lately

I can tell you that they arent as sekptical of his system as they were at the beginning of the year. They raised questions about top players wanting to play for CMA and his system being able to showcase their talents properly, which I voiced on here before and was only giving info ive heard directly from coaches. That is out the window now as they love how this team has developed and fully bought into the system CMA has in place. They love the combo of Champagnie and Posh. They constantly bring up how the gets the most out of these players who seem to be under the radar. Trust me they reiteate this to the kids their coach and are very much invovled in recruitment. They give their honest opinions to their kids and try to guide them where they think they will fit.

I know that CMA has a great relationship with Coach Arbitello at CTK and John Buck at Luhi. They rave about him all the time. They said hes straightforward, honest, and easy to deal with. Van Macon had a lot to do with building these relationships as well.

Hey Paultz! Any chance that Cool Mike gets Aiden Applewhite to sign.  Decision is imminent.
Not one I would bet on, we'll see.
