Nostalgia---------players that they enjoyed/loved at the time they played
Their memories of them are still very strong and even precious.
That's a good thing no?
It’s effort too. The team laid down last night and Posh never backed down once in his career. There were plenty of games when he looked like the only one not stuck in slow motion.

Pitino himself said the guys who left were good players when asked about Deion and Colorado comparisons. “The difference is the guys that left St. John’s could really play.”

He’s going to play amazing with better coaching and no Curbelo.

Me, I don’t understand the love affair with Storr. He has potential but like my first impression of Dingle, he does little to affect the game except when he has the ball. Jury definitely still out with me for sure about Dingle but not a big Storr fan at all.
Dingle clearly can score the basketball, which is always useful, but I too worry he may be a bit of black hole.

A tough part about assembling a roster of all transfers? All these guys probably thought they were gonna step on campus and immediately be "the guy". You can tell Daniss, Dingle, and Ledlum all fancy themselves as THE alpha of the team. Really what they need to do is all play together.

My impression of Storr was he had a great eye, deadly but
he had no spirit or drive.
No excitement to him. As if his teammates didn't exist.

My biggest surprise last night was the lack of a dramatic change after halftime.
You weren’t alone . Almost seemed like CMA was back in the locker room at 1/2 time .

Although if we had “ given 3 good minutes at the beginning of the 2 nd half , we might have stayed a little closer ?”

Martelli had more ammo in his gun last night than Rick did .

The Pace game should have been a reality check for us fans but , we tended to discount it .

A lot of people were writing it off as "just an exhibition" - but still... if our team (mainly reserves who played) couldn't muster a Win vs a D2 team... it should be fairly telling where our team is *AT THIS POINT* of the Season. (as well as the fact Rutgers got beat by Princeton and SB got trounced by 20 vs Duquesne)

Given the stats a lot of these guys had at their previous destinations- and the Staff we have that brought them in - it's obvious the "talent" is there... will just take a bit to be a cohesive unit.

I won't be surprised if we drop 2 of 3 in Charleston and another one prior to the BE. 7-4 OOC is on the Table.

I also won't be surprised if we win 5 in a row in Conf play beating UConn/Creighton/Marq etc...

Luis has great size and is very skilled. Very good looking release and body control. Can probably create better and definitely will rebound better.

I really like Storr…not just as a shooter. He can really score in many ways and I think he could be a 20 ppg scorer as a senior or whatever the Wisconsin equivalent would be when you account for pace.

You can make a colorable argument for either guy at this point.
No argument on Storr, or with what you say about Luis' attributes, just don't liking hyping kids who have never played at this level or comparing them to other kids who have already played at this level.

Did you just mention anderson and pitino in the same sentence. just get Rick on mic'd up whole game then you will see the difference.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling…..
NO!
The sky isn't falling, but the ceiling was definitely lowered a bit IMO. My hope was that this would be the year we ended the NCAA tournament win drought. I don't see this group doing that as it stands. The tournament is still in play, but the margin for error in the OOC schedule is really small now. The team needs to go at least 2-2 between the Charleston tournament and the game @ WV or it becomes an uphill climb.

I remember when Ledlum originally chose Tennessee, I thought it wasn't a big loss because he wasn't quick enough to be a big time performer in the Big East. I fear I may be proven correct. He was forcing it a lot last night, but he also looked a step slow.

After the next loss, I really hope a bunch of posters don't start lamenting how CP should have kept Posh or Storr or anyone else. CP doesn't like point guards that shoot 20% from 3. If you hire a hall of fame coach, best thing to do is get out if his way and let him do his thing. He knows what to do, and will get it done. Already signed a bunch of 4 star recruits between this season and next, and more are on the way. Coach's first season was likley going to be a difficult one at worst and a decent one at best. He sad it in the post game presser that you can't expect big things to happen with a roster pieced together 7 months before the season started.

Pitino won a national championship with a PG that shot 28% that season and worse the two seasons prior (who turned the ball over more than Posh too) . Posh shot 30% as a freshman and is shooting 40% through 3 games this year (obviously that will fall some). He'll be north of 30% this year with better coaching. There is absolutely nothing on the court that kept Posh from starting at PG for this team. Jenkins is an A-10 caliber combo guard. Posh is a Big East PG.

Posh didn't do what he had to do off the court...ok. It's exhausting to bring up former players...ok. But there is no comparison on the court between Jenkins and Posh. Zero.
