MICHIGAN (@MSG), Mon., Nov. 13, 6:30p, FS-1

So you are agreeing that with a loaded roster ,hof coach, and world class venue our tickets are a bargain.

Especially since coaches picked us to finish above xavier in the big east this year.

Thank you for proving my case. See you Monday, but prob not this monday.

Again you can rationalize any way you want not to buy tickets, and not going is your prerogative, but honestly we have a mom and pop fanbase of mostly older men.
Nah, I have season tickets, I’ll be there Monday. I don’t blame others for not showing up though at those prices.

Coach will reshape athletic department in the next few years and the ticket issues won’t be an issue….

Wait, you pay $1600 per seat ? I have great seats and i think i pay less than that.

I thought i n paid about 2600 for 2 seats near midcourt in low rows in both places
I’m not sure anymore what I pay as they send me a new charge and a small reversal every day now. I have an email in to Samantha to try and figure it out. But I think you are correct, I suspect I am more like $1,100 per, but also keep in mind that includes CA games and Xavier plays all their games in a real arena. I would think if all the SJU games were at MSG the numbers would get fairly close. But let’s keep in mind I also said I’m fine with SJUs lower bowl pricing for season tickets. And lo and behold there does not appear to be any demand issue in the lower bowl.

It’s the upper bowl pricing that someone clearly screwed up. Which is why now they have to slash it. It was $30 higher per ticket than the lower bowl. That’s not a typo the word higher.

They slashed it how, let’s see what happens. And I agree on the fan base, which is old, etc.

That’s not going to change with a hire - not even this hire. A full generation of alumni went to the school during periods like the Norm error, and the Mullin error. They aren’t checked out - they never checked in. And that’s alumni. Imagine their age peers who went to other schools.

In the meantime SJU needs to market the team accordingly, until the winning we expect occurs. At which point they can price me out!

To which I say good for them.

That’s why you need to lower tickets to build the next generation of NY college basketball fans…..

yeah, so my section which is 222 is now $44 and I paid $98.

Marquette is right now $98, and the Michigan game tell me to wait until a few days before the game and prices will drop $54.

Excuse me, I'm just pissed, but I guess if they can get away with it, then why not over price right?
Just expect people to catch on.
Top recruits like Edgecombe are looking for one thing above all others: which college program will give them the best chance of a career in the NBA? That equates to quality of coaching staff + playing time. Empty seats at games are way down the list of priorities, I’m sure.
And , in this day and age of NIL , they are intently looking at $$$$$.,

It's pretty telling that I'm 40 and somehow one of the younger people on this board! Unfortunately for me I became a big time fan during Omar's year with the team. Unbelievably, im still waiting to witness the team win a tourney game. But I've never given up being a die hard fan.

I will say this and then stop. If $100 for the upper level is a bargain then I will soon be another person just watching the games from home. Maybe it’s that simple, that this will only be for the wealthy. Which has never been the case, but things change.
Nah, just wait until a week of a game (like me for now on, unless I see a good pricr on vivid), and tickets will be much lower at MSG, atleast that's how MSG does business.

Unless you have season tickets, then nm.

My son is 9 years older than you.

My son is 31, loves basketball, and just moved back to Long Beach from Raleigh. He absolutely knows who Pitino is but still looks at me funny when I tell him he is going to want SJU tickets. For a lot of people they are intrigued but still need to be sold. That means winning.

But I’m hoping by the end of the year he gets it, for a bunch of reasons. Including you being rewarded for a ton of loyalty.

Michigan the early 1.5 favorite

Let the young bucks sleep on SJU, then when they're a top 10 team they'll be like "huh, how did this happen?"

There's only one answer, Pitino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd agree with you on the reality of things but can tell you that even Pitino and Shanley, who have both been around thenbuild of programs are surprised by sluggish tix sales.

I tell the school we dont have to rebuild a fan base, because the ones who had season tix at $35 arent coming back at $1000+, but we have build an entirely new fanbase of youngnfans that go.out, spend $25 on mixed drinks and $45 for a dozen oysters, and would find a nyc nightnout at $100 to watch good basketball in good seats a good deal.

I’m surprised by this. I thought we would open as slight favorite at the garden.
My guess would have been pick em at MSG. Looking at schedule, tomorrow night is probably the only game I won't be able to watch this year. Have to leave for a meeting I can't miss around 7:10 and won't be home until shortly after 8:30. Hoping for OT so I can see the end!

Recording devices have been around since the 80’s 😉😊🤣

Beast - no way is that fans base the one that will consistently cheer on a bunch of college athletes. Not gonna pack 20K into the MSG with that. It's not gonna work or get even a decent fraction of 20K.

If that's the target, I think its misguided and university would not be looking at this correctly and is gonna struggle even more.

We can't be Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom & Rao's.. we need to be Target, Dick's Sporting Goods & favorite neighborhood food joint.

If we're gonna claim and live up to being NY's team, then you have to cater to and build a base that represents NY... and also the university... Make it something both the blue collar & white collar types should want to enjoy at reasonable prices that can be a night out with buddies, a date or with the spouse & kids and rally around the program and talk about it at work, school etc .

Got me there lol! I finally learned how to use a Roku one of my kids got us last Christmas but never did master recording games. In any event, I'll be checking my phone every chance I get so will have an idea how we're doing.

I guess I am an outlier here, but I think that getting 12,000 people to turn out to a Monday night game in November is respectable. Especially when you consider the state of our program over the past few years.

The expectiations on Pitino are insane. He's going to get us to the Sweet 16 this year! He's going to pack MSG! 20k in attendance every game! He's an amazing coach but he's not a freaking miracle worker.
