(Miami Invit) Georgia Tech, Sat. Dec. 1, 12 Noon, ESPNU / 570 WMCA

I don't know how these guys do it, but as long as they keep doing it...

This will prove to be a good win. Even if Ga. Tech takes a beating in conference, the fact that they play in the ACC means their rankings in Kenpom and Net, etc., can only go down so low. That will help us.

The Ponds prayer from beyond midcourt to end the half wound up being the margin of difference. He was great, and until he missed the two FTs at the end, so was Simon. We don't win it without those two.

7-0 for the first time in 24 years!!!! Now, we shoot for our first 8-0 start since 1990-91, which was also the last 9-0 start.

St. John's is best when it presses. I am hoping to see the three quarters press we say a few games ago.

I think we actually out coached them! I'm not sure why they stopped trying to get the ball to Banks, but glad they didn't!

It wouldn’t be a close SJU game without Mean Gene giving up on the team midway through and then coming back to celebrate like nothing ever happened LOL
That’s the secret strategy Jack, works like charm every time!! 7 - 0 Baby!!!!
Lol I believe it. 7-0. enjoy your Saturday MG

At the game! What a comeback!!! Game changed when Justin was put on Alvarado. Alvarado blew a kiss in the St. John's fan section when they were on that run. He never heard the end of it from the crowd. Huge win!!! I have no voice!

OK....I have a serious question. Shouldn't the foul on Moore been a dead ball intentional foul? Meaning Two shots SJU AND Possession??? I played basketball all my life and have never seen a foul prior to an inbound that is not considered Intentional? Did the rule change???
Games could be extended indefinitely?
I thought it was a dicey situation as well
Always my understanding that you cannot just grab and hold prior to inbound or commit foul prior to inbound?

This is in Mullin’s playbook. I heard him yell out “disappearing act” as we were bringing the ball up the court when we were down double digits.
Alvarado’s yank of Ponds’s arm getting tech & sitting for a while was one of those momentum breakers. Not pretty, but take the win & sweep the rest of the “gimmes” before BE play.
Agreed, that was the turning point. Great job by the staff to give Shamorie the 'Hero' ball signal :eek:hmy:

You too buddy!!! Thanks!

Want ugly... SJU got 2 points 1-7 shooting, 0-4 from 3 point range, 2 rebounds AND 8 Fouls from our bench the whole game... Gonna be tough to win in the Big East like that.

Roberts could not play worse than Trimble. Four fouls, no points, one turnover & one board.

Most importantly it shows that we are quite a good team when we play with full effort. We came out letting them dictate the tempo and played poorly for most of the game. When we needed to, we turned it on, defended and went hard after it at both ends and imposed our will. We are a good and talented team, only held back by our effort and sometimes our depth on the bench. Can’t continue to come out lackadaisical. That said, great win. Getting a health Keita back will pay huge dividends when the time comes. He’s a good big and that one extra guy will eventually do wonders for our overall lineup. This is a good stretch for him to rest and rehab and get well.

Seriously, how many people were there? On TV it looked like 2k or less.

Hopefully when Keita get back he will absorb some of the minutes/fouls especially of clark. This should also improve the bench. Soild point

Ponds was fantastic as he usually is. Simon stepped up in the second half on both ends. Hopefully we can keep getting better but you can't take the wins away so if we do improve it will be nice to have the 7-0 start.

Down 16 points 3 minutes into the 2nd half, you take it and run!
