Mets

Flores has looked so much better in the field to me lately but tonight he is freaking me out

Love his bat, think he's clutch, should not be playing shortstop any more. Of course, if the score holds up, then Collins looks like a genius.

Great win! Matz really toughed it out and had a strong outing and Murph is continuing his clutch hitting. Won't be surprised if he is a hero in October for us

My concern with the Mets is they seem to do their most damage recently against crappy middle relievers. They won't get those opportunities in the playoffs. Good starters will go 7 and then they will see the opponents best to close it out. If they can't start doing damage against starters they won't last long in the playoffs.

interesting point.

this team has flaws for sure. i wonder if the young arms can keep up with that better pitching when they see it in october? that stretch of dominance has been tempered some the last month (something that offense helped disguise a bit) as more of the league sees them, and they experience full season fatigue for maybe the first time.

anything they do in the playoffs would be gravy though.

true. just hope we didn't peak too soon

I was going to ask this last week but didn't want to come off as a troll. Are Met fans worried about that possibility?

I'm a met fan. I worry that a tsunami comes and wipes out citified forcing us to play games at yankee stadium while Harvey,Thor,Matz and deGrom all hurt their backs in the relief effort. The only luck I know is bad luck with this team

But yeah I do worry about peaking too early the last week especially since I think the better playoff teams are in the NL this year

Extremely big win for the Mets Friday night, first to get off a 2 game slide, second to beat a playoff caliber team, and third and most importantly to clip a game off the schedule and maintain their lead and reduce the magic number to 8. Just 8-7 will clinch even if the Nats run the table.

A loss yesterday was sustainable because of Friday. Now if they take care of business today, it will make things a lot easier no matter what the Nats do. Basically they have to take 3 games off their lead at this point because you don't want the Nats to come into the final series with a chance to catch the Mets. So they really have just 2 games of a lead to play with.

Met pitchers have to become smarter with their pitching choices. I'm tired of watching them throw fast ball after fastball in the first inning. Take yesterday when Syndegard threw nothing but fastballs to the first three hitters. Is this the pitching coach's decision or the catcher? Finally he used his changeup and slider and successfully held the Yankees scoreless until the sixth inning. And when we are ahead in the count with two strikes learn to throw the next pitch in the dirt, afterall, it seems that our opponents get us to fish.
