Mets

You're essentially trading Duda's bat for Plawecki's, which is not a upgrade. Duda may be in a slump but he can become torrid at any moment (see July). Longterm this may work to ease the wear and tear on injury prone Travis. But short term, no.

Dude still has a lot of room for improvement and he has tremendous power. I could see him hitting 35-40 homeruns , 100 rbis and .270 average when he learns to be consistently disciplined and go the other way, where he still has home run power. I like Plawecki and of course D'Arnaud, but having two catchers is a nice problem to have, especially since D'Arnaud gets banged up a lot.

I like Duda but he's just too inconsistent for me. Remember when we had the worst offense in baseball back in may/June. He was part of the problem. I think his eventual cost will be more than his worth down the line. But the Mets definitely got it right when they kept Duda over Ike Davis.

Agree with this entire post. Plus he will be 30 next season. I don't know how much more upside he has. I think he is a .250 and 30 hr guy. I don't mind him as my 1st baseman but I think I'd rather explore moving Travis there in the long term either next season or the season after

It might be time for Degrom to be skipped in the rotation. Tough outing. Six runs and ten hits in five innings.

In the first inning I Iiked how he kept his fastball down low, however he had trouble with his secondary pitches. They sat on his fastball, especially since he was having trouble with its location. I agree he needs some well deserved rest.

today is a clunker.

fire collins. lol

Thank God we don't have to play the Marlins in the playoffs. We always seem to struggle with the Fish.

Is there any way to stop Gordon and Bour? Afterall we played the Marlins at least 17 games. Perhaps we try throwing inside. Hell Gordon gets hits with one hand.

Nationals lost to the Marlins. Big series with Yankees coming up.

That's certainly good news.

With what could have been a 7 game lead, I think the Nationals only hope is to look at that lead as 3 games less, and hope for a season ending sweep of the Mets. That gives them a couple of week to cut the lead to 3 games. The Yankees would be their best hope to help them. Going into this weekend, a 7 game lead could conceivably been cut to 4 if the Yankees and Nats both sweep. So, the Nats losing tonight provides a very important swing of one game to an 8 game lead.

for some reason I think we only win 1 vs the yanks

Maybe because the Mets usually only win one of three from the Yankees. Hoping this year is different. We'll probably split the first two and have Harvey give us a solid three innings 60 pitches on Sunday before handing it over to Verrett to finish up.

That would be a disappointment for you guys.

Remember, we (the Yankees) are at a HUGE disadvantage in this series, because Arod won't be starting. Nobody else on the team is really hitting right now, except Bird and Ackley. That's why I don't think a Mets sweep is out of the question here, though I don't think that will happen, and I certainly hope to be wrong about that.

Looking for the Mets to play some good baseball and win at least one, hopefully two. The Yankees have excellent pitching and good hitting. We are throwing two rookies who need this experience.

The people who figure out this sort of thing say at this point the Mets have a 99% chance to make the playoffs. Than why am I still a little nervous? Guess it's like saying you have a 99% chance of surviving an operation, and when it's you or a loved one you are still probably going to be a little nervous or should I say more than a little.

Why? Because in 2008 they blew a 7 game lead with 17 to go. Someone's gotta be in that 1%.

We are making the playoffs this year. I think we'd all feel a lot more confident if we reverse the past couple of days and win at least 2/3 from the Yanks.

Being a met and st johns fan we are mentally trained to assume something bad will happen. There might be some new medical term for it like queensholm syndrome or something

Spocky, I've found that evil usually triumphs unless good is very, very careful. - Boney Ramone

Flores has looked so much better in the field to me lately but tonight he is freaking me out
