As long as we don't trot out anyone with the last name Torres or Parnell anymore, I'll be happy. We're losing too many games this way lately. We also have a day off tomorrow to rest Clippard's arm. Hopefully Goeddel will be back soon. Vic Black has his stuff back supposedly. Only problem he is wild.
Just when I started liking Robles he gives up the damn homerun
Cespedes needs to be resigned. It's crazy how adding one prime bat effects the entire lineup. The Mets went from seemingly lacking any power to having three guys that are on pace for 30 homers (Duda w/ 21 might miss if sent to DL today for sore back).
I love Conforto at the end of the lineup. It gives d'Arnaud a ton of protection and any combination of Flores, Conforto, Johnson, d'Arnaud, and Uribe at the end of the lineup is very dangerous offensively.

Agree about Cespedes, especially since he indicated he wanted to return to the Mets next year. I always felt that this deal could result in what Piazza meant to the Metsies.

Cespedes is one of the game's best at this time. What is it though that causes him to be traded so frequently? 4 teams in 5 years makes me wonder if he has major issues.

There are a few guys that don't garner the interest that you would expect. I can't believe Justin Upton from San Diego is not more valued by the league at just 27! He's got all five tools and has a 30 home run season under his belt. His last contract was a joke and nobody offered anything reasonable for him at the trade deadline. Someone will be able to get him for a huge bargain.
I know there are some rumblings that Cespedes is a little lazy--and we've see that a few times already in his short time with the Mets--but he does everything well and is they type of bat the Mets absolutely need on the team.

The longer they wait, the higher the pricetag. They should make him a great offer now, put a short date on it, and take it off the table if he doesn't accept. They won't get him cheap, and if they wait until the end of the season, it will be too tempting for him to test the waters, They can't participate in his free agent bidding, so the smartest thing they can do is negotiate seriously with him right now - his pricetag will only go up.
Mets picked up Eric Young Jr. off waivers from the Braves for cash considerations. Great pickup. He'll be up on September 1st and, if nothing else, will be an amazing designated runner. Great teammate and solid defense. The Mets really could use some speed.
As for the Mets being in the free agent bidding they have an exclusive 5 day window after the WS to negotiate with him and if they don;t sign him by then they can't sign him as a FA until May which effectively takes them out of the bidding at that point. Unless he really wants to sign with the Mets he will want to take it to unrestricted FA and see whats out there in a bidding war.Cespedes needs to be resigned. I completely agree the Mets need to close this as soon as possible. I disagree that they can't participate in the free agent bidding. Cespedes will be 30 this year and I think he'll be getting in the neighborhood of a four year 60-70 mill contract. The Mets can't afford not to pay that for him. If they don't pay up, the Mets fans will revolt. Murphy, Gee, Parnell, and Colon (and Mejia) coming off the payroll will be enough to resign Cespedes and Clippard and to pay for Duda's arbitration raise (will be much lower now with DL stint).

Family going to Philly for Met series. I know in the past the mention of the best Cheesesteaks in the city. Anyone have any recommendations.
couple of things...
1. Cespedes for four years/60-70 mil? Good luck gettin' that kind of discount. This guy is going to be grabbing 150 mil contract or more somehow...
2. Philly cheesesteaks...TONY LUKE'S. Pat's/Geno's is not required.
