Mets

Have to love Terry's creative lineups. Instead of throwing crap at the wall maybe hit and run or send the guys with decent speed. Making crazy lineups up when you can't hit is useless and is fake managing.
CF Granderson
2B Herrera-actually like this though
1B Duda
LF Cuddyer's corpse
RF Mayberry-AKA righthanded Niuewenhuis
SS Flores
C Reckar-2nd worst hitter in majors Homered today!
3B-Tejad-worst hitting starting 3B in baseball history
P Niese-you could theoretically justify hitting him 7th

2-2 with two laser home runs so far!

I get the same feeling as you with Murph...the brass doesn't seem to value him. It's kind of weird when he is a lock for .290 and 50 extra basehits on a weak offensive team. His D has been awful, though.

I don't think they dislike Murphy. They just don't like his salary.

There's been too much fan and media emphasis on upgrading the offense at shortstop.

Forget Tulo or Starling Castro. All the Mets have to do is find a decent major league shortstop who won't embarrass himself in the field or at the plate. I mean for goddsakes, the best Mets teams had Buddy Harrelson and Rafael Santana at short.

Instead, the Mets must upgrade at the corner outfield.

Left field has been a blackhole for this franchise for a decade. Ever since Cliff Floyd, we have had weak production out of one of the most offensive position in MLB.

Cuddeyer, 36, is not going to do it. He is a great fourth outfielder on a good team or a solid starter on a team that has prime offensive production at other positions. On the Mets, he is just another offensive liability.

Bud Harrelson was a 2 time all star who three times finished in the top 25 of MVP voting. In an era of very good fielding shortstops he was among the best. Don't diss him - he was my favorite player. :)

Why do you guys do this to yourselves every year? It is frankly very entertaining to read and listen to all of you expecting the Mets to win a sausage. Then the first of July happens.

Off topic but went to the Astro game in houston and they serve fried chicken tenders with mashed potatoes stuffed in an oversized waffle ice cream cone with honey mustard on top. Yep. I ate it

And I might add that after St John the next highest in the order of saints has to be Arnold who the beer there is named after

" off topic" conveys my thought about this entire post - I'd feel the same if it were a Yankee post - surprised this isn't more directly related to SJU!?!???
I wish the Mets well. I wish SJU better.
"And to all a good night..."

I don't think Mets fans have expected anything more than possibly .500 for most of the last decade. This year is different. The Mets are still a flawed team, but they might have the deepest pitching in baseball. The bullpen is missing all but two guys we expected to have, and it has been amazing.

If they can stay reasonably healthy after everyone gets back from the DL (and suspension for Mejia), they can challenge for a playoff spot.

And they are playing in one of the weakest divisions in baseball....you have to like their chances!

I can't force myself to like anything about the Mets, sorry. :eek:hmy:

Don't see the mets going anywhere this year unless D Wright and Travis come back hitting the ball well. Wright was bad before the injury even though it was a small amount of time he was playing.

Living in delaware I don't see the mets much, I just follow on twitter, I gotta say, it is pathetic how every game there's always one terrible play by an infielder. You're in the MLB, how hard is it to field a ground ball correctly? Frustrating but I'm used to it

If the Mets can flip a few prospects for a shortstop then forget about it. They will have a decent lineup and one of the best staff's in the game. Not to mention one of the best closers in the game. I'd take our chances against anyone in a 7 game series trotting out Harvey, Thor, deGrom and Fatolo.

This will be a streaky team all year. I'm sure we'll see more 4-5 game losing streaks where the offense looks anemic, but we have another 10 game win streak left where everything will click.

Our pitching is the strongest top to bottom that I've ever seen as a fan. Familia is a lights out closer. We have a bonafide ace and 6-7 solid starting pitchers--many of them at the quality of a #3 or better. The DL looks like a shopping list of great relievers we get back the rest of the way.

This will be a dangerous team to play 7 with when you have to go two against Harvey and a gem or two from deGrom for four of those games.

I agree about Familia...lights out. I actually liked Mejia there too for as crazy as he was. He had awesome save to blown save ratio.

Thor's stock is so high right now, I'd bet the Mets could bully the Rockies into a straight up deal for Tulo...maybe sprinkle in a guy like Flores and a top 10-15 prospect. Last year they would have wanted half of our farm system along with Thor.

I don't think anyone wants to be the guy that trades this kid, though. They could very easily find themselves on the wrong side of history ala Nolan Ryan.

I want to be in a position where our top four are Harvey, DeGrom, Syndegaard and Matz. We can still get something out of Colon and Niese and hopefully Montero. We have a chance at Wheeler coming back next year. I don't want to trade any of our top pitchers. Lets hope D'Arnaud and Wright will be back at the end of the month. Maybe we can trade Niese and or Gee for a capable outfielder to replace Nieuwenheis and or Mayberry.

If Kirk is eliminated, I would feel better. I can't watch him hit. He is Josh Satin 2.

Got your wish, going to be designated for assignment. Doubt anyone claims he though so he will be back at Vegas. Classic Quadruple A player.

Thanks for jinxing Familia to leaving the lights on last night.

Any other Right fielder in the history of baseball throws the guy out at the plate there. That was a 200 foot sac fly

Bad arm for sure, but Granderson didn't put guys on the corners. By no means was it a given that a decent arm guns him out and it wasn't a 200 ft fly ball.
