Mets

We all know by now that Mike Piazza's # 31 will be retired by The Met's this coming season, but did you know that John Franco wore # 31 from 1990-98 and gave it to Mike when he became his teammate.

Another connection to St. John's is that the first Met to wear # 31 was the late Larry Bearnarth
(1963-66 with The Met's) who is a member of The SJU Hall of Fame.

"I reached for Cespedes, but so did another team. As I rained money upon him, I realized there had to be another way. A one-year opt out."

I thought of this one:

Most overrated Met of all time

Larry Bearnarth? I had his baseball card.

"This could well be the stupidest person on the face of the earth. Perhaps we should shoot him. "-cop from movie Ruthless people

I gotta start calling you we are siskel because I don't know anyone who knows as many movie quotes as you :)

quote="mjmaherjr" post=210707]dumbest met ever. what a f'ing waste of air[/quote] he even beats Vince Coleman. Pathetic

Yoenis Cespedes showed up at spring training with his new set of wheels. I personally would have picked a Silver Cloud or a Maserati but I guess this is his afternoon vehicle and the others may be for the evening

I am OK with a $65K tricycle as long as he doesn't end up as Duaner Sanchez.

It looks like he will now with Cabrera getting hurt, but if Tejada is no longer with the team when we play Utley do the Mets still drill him? I really hope so

VERY early but how has keeping Harvey and letting Murphy go worked out so far?

Neil Walker has been a fine replacement: four less hits, the same rbi and one more homer than Murph.

Talk about willful blindness. Murphy has been the best hitter in the league through 10 games with a 1.500 OPS. walker is slightly over .700. And Murphy could have been signed to play 1st as we wait a month for Duda to get hot for a week to accumulate his season worth of stats before going into another tailspin. Murphy was the heart and soul of the Mets and by far their best clutch hitter. So far this Mets team can't score unless they hit a HR. If deGrom's injury keeps lingering this season will soon become a massive struggle because I don't see the gnats taking their foot off the gas

I spend a good deal of my time in DC and players, fans and media are already raving about Murphy from the "heart and soul" perspective. You said it all, keep Duda who is horrible, and let Murphy walk, just another dumb move by a dumb organization.
