Mets 2024 Season

I hate to pile on but the guy seemed to be partying more than anyone in the clips I saw. Couldn’t help but think about the old Frank Cashen quote about it's always the players who contribute the least who spray the most champagne. I know Alonso is better than that but he has literally contributed next to nothing in any key situations.
Alonso has not performed up to expectations. For that he deserves criticism. Partying? I get he’s irritating us because he hasn’t lived up to what we expect or need. He also would have been an absolute hero robbing Kelenic of a bases clearing double when Diaz fell asleep and didn’t cover 1B.

By the way, Cashen’s criticism was because the player involved was Randy Neiman a LHP had deigned to soak Cashen with champagne while he was on camera. I believe Cashen later apologized. More an old school moment from Cashen. Times were a little different.

Were we smart enough to leave a starting pitcher or two behind in Milwaukee? No sense in making starters fly twice in two days if they couldn’t pitch.
Lol. Why would they do that?

It was a guarantee that they would come back to Milwaukee. Milwaukee, SD and going home were the options.

I guess if they really wanted to, they could have kept a pitcher or 2 there and if it was SD they have just went to the airport and flew there.

Mets need to sweep in Milwaukee, then they'll have 2 days to rest up.

A pair of 3 hour flights back to is incredibly taxing on anyone. Teams will often send starters ahead of the rest of the team.

There was next to no chance of SD — the winner of game 1 was going to start a AAA pitcher, pitch the worst relievers, and sit any position player they could. And you don’t plan to lose, so going home wasn’t a consideration. In the unlikely event it’s SD then you save a flight and a half. No downside.

Brewers up 1-0….lesson here for the Mets, sometimes good things can happen when you make contact. All three hits not hit particularly hard but they found holes.

Lucky it’s just 2 runs. However, he needs to give us length and that 1st inning makes that highly doubtful.

At what point do we pitch around Turang? He killed us when we played over the weekend as well. Gotta find a way to get him out

ESPN is really the worst. The winning %, in-game interviews, in-inning commercials, and horrible announcers are just a toxic combination and make the game legitimately worse to watch.

The score might not reflect it (yet) but this has been about as bad of a start as you could’ve gotten from Severino. Awful location, can’t get any soft contact whatsoever, consistently letting guys who are 0-2 work it back to a full count.

Just bad

What a rally. Iglesias beat out that grounder with the dive to first. That play is what I’ll remember from this inning

I’ve been hard on Sevy tonight but that was a nice 5th inning there. Needed it
Length will be really important tonight
