Mets 2024 Season

Heard Howie Rose say it was gonna be Frankie Montas. Let’s get it tomorrow and get some rest!

Gotta second all the Butto posts. I was very confident the whole time with him there and set things up for Stanek really nice.
ESPN also reporting Montas starting for brewers. Manaea pitched great in September except for game last Friday versus Brewers which was on the 6th day after prior start which was unusual for him as he had been pitching every 5th. tomorrow he will be back on the 5th day start schedule and hopefully have results like he had down the stretch (except the Brewers)

Maybe just me but Butto threw smoke the 1st inning, then mixed in a lot of off speed stuff in the 2nd. Brilliant.

Stanek threw a powerful 9th. I'd love for the Mets not to need Diaz tomorrow (in a win of course). But the mere fact that they may have options beyond Diaz is a big relief (pun intended).

Side note: i have withdrawals not having Gary, Keith, and Ronnie to announce. Howie Rose on radio was great to have this season for those games.

Beast agree on missing Gary, et. al. If Howie Rose is doing the games on radio, maybe I'll watch ESPN with sound off and hear Howie call it.

Severino with a gutsy performance. Those last two innings were fantastic.

I know I keep writing it, but Butto has been absolutely huge. I wanted him to get the 9th. Kid’s got an attitude and moxie.

Mendoza is killing it. Iglesias is having one of those bizarre Cinderella seasons.

Hopefully Manaea comes through now. I think he will.

Solid, knowledgeable booth but man are we spoiled with Gary, Keith, and Ron. Even a solid booth is light years behind our guys.

I have become a big Vientos fan and I am sure I am not alone. Interesting to see the interview with Martinez after the game last night and learn about the mentoring he has done with Mets players in general and Vientos in particular.
Evidently, he searched Vientos out when he signed to replace Vientos as the DH and told him, in so many words, to “hang tough”, work hard, and he would be brought back up and would succeed when it happened.
Apparent they have become close and I assume one of the reasons Vientos has shown a maturity beyond his years has been Martinez’ influence. A true professional offering mentoring advice to pass the torch. Mad respect for both, teacher and student!!

Have mentioned this before, but I live right outside of Philly and have a lot of family/friends who like Philly sports teams.

Have spoken to a lot of people today around here, across the board they are rooting hard for the Brewers because they don't want to play the Mets. Say the Mets have a bit of a mojo going on that they want no parts of. Reminds some of them of the 2022 Phillies team that snuck in and went on a solid run.

Lets win tonight and head to Philly. Knicks took out the Sixers earlier this year, I want more!

I think the big factor is familiarity. We’ve seen a whole lot of the Fillies. As have they with the Mets. It just evens things up a bit with a comfort level. They have an edge with some of their starters but the Mets have seen them a thousand times.

I am not counting the Brewers out. We need Manaea to be a whole lot better than last Friday. Would be so helpful to get rid of them tonight for some rest. Fingers crossed.

Why would you have Turang batting 9th??

Taylor and Alvarez get themselves out leaving Marte standing at second, both striking out on obvious ball fours. Wasted opportunity…

and Iglesias leads off swinging strike 2 on a ball that bounced 5 feet in front of the plate and takes the next pitch down the middle for strike 3. I think the last few days may have caught up with them a bit……..

Alonso waving at a ball with a wrinkle not near the strike zone has become a theme at this point.
