Met 2017 Season thread

Well the weather was great yesterday at Chase Field. Harvey showed improvement, not great but I thought better. Threw alot of sliders, fastballs mostly around 95. As soon as Montero entered I told my friends get ready to go home.
Boy, he stinks. Almost double the hits to his innings I was hoping Collins would have given Ramirez, just off waivers, a chance.
He pitched like the Dim Squire

Nice win tonight. deGrom looked the ace, Rene and Conforto generating offense.

Matt Reynolds looks like just got out of high school.

Conforto and DeGrom will fight it out for who our All-Star will be.

I just did. Conforto is tops in everything but 2 less HR's in 15 less AB. I don't watch baseball but I keep reading about Judge. Seems Conforto is actually having a great year? Where's the national press?

Honestly even I was shocked until last night when a friend of mine put up a post on our mets fb page saying Conforto was having a better year. Crazy how he has flown under the radar

I guess Colins has shut off Conforto if he has only played 3 less games as Judge. Reading the Met thread got distinct impression that Conforto has been getting screwed with playing time. Excellent hitter.
.

blow the lead then bases loaded no outs and you can't get 1 fucking run in. Disgusting

Conforto is a stud. So is Judge (and Sanchez). Great for both teams and great for NY. Judge is getting more attention because Conforto was up two years ago, played well, and was bad last year when he was jerked around for whatever reason. Also because Judge hits the ball harder and longer than most everyone in baseball - and that as we know gets attention.

Don't think it is a Yankee thing. Remember about 10 or so years ago Wright and Reyes got far more attention than a young 2b on the Yankees who was quietly tearing it up (and wasn't a huge prospect to boot). Cano is now on his way to the HOF and Wright/Reyes have had their careers derailed to an extent for different reasons.

It's really hard to contrast year 1, 2 and 3 for Conforto. Take out year 2, and his progress this year would be expected. In his rookie year, he showed a great eye at the plate, and would hit pitches on the outer half of the plate with authority to left. Last season, he appeared to totally lose the strike zone, flailed at pitches in the dirt, and even had trouble with pitches on the fat part of the plate.

This year, his great eye has returned, his patience has returned, he is hitting outside pitches for home runs to left and left center. Unlike many who prove that the sophomore jinx is little more than pitchers developing a book on a hitter a few times around the league, he went home, lost weight, worked hard and came into spring training in the best shape of his life. He now has to be looked at as a tremendous part of a formidable 1-2 punch in the middle of the lineup once Cespedes returns. With his great eye, we may see a day where Conforto bats behind Cespedes to get Cespedes better looks.

Amazing turnaround, and it all looks legit.

Was there last night, and even w the bases loaded, nobody out in the 9th, was never more convinced they wouldn't score.

Grandy had struck out 7 of his last 8 times against the guy who fanned him to open the inning. Is there a reason he didn't bat Bruce?
