Max Hooper

Let's just hope he can do it in a game

That will all depend on whether Lavin finally comes up with setting some picks for Harrison and Max. Otherwise he has to get himself freed up. If he's that good of a shooter then I would expect the opposition to overplay him similar to what NBA teams do on Novak.

I really really think we will see big max getting 20 plus mins a game and be a huge fan favorite!!!

Guru,

Have you ever seen Hooper play?

If so, please describe what you liked about him.

If you have never seen him play then please explain how you can make such a bold prediction about Hooper.

Thanks.

Are you going to assign him a book report too? It's a fansite, relax. He qualified his statement with "I think."

I see him getting about 15 min a game . He can shoot. The opponent will have to guard him closely and that will free up other players.

I watched Max play about 5 or 6 games at IS8 before his freshman year at Harvard. First thing that I can tell you is that he was not intimidated by the environment. Sometimes it is very hard for a "white" ballplayer at IS8 because the crowd and the announcers can get on you if you do not play well. To his credit, Max came, played hard, made his shots and earned the respect of those watching him. I believe that he will be a great addition to our team because of his ability to make shots. Max also has a very high basketball IQ and does not try to do things that he can't do.
Playing with Jakarr and Orlando inside, should get him a lot of good looks and teams will not be able to sag on either one of them.
Additionally, Max has a terrific work ethic. He is in the gym putting up shots every day constantly trying to improve. I wish him all the best since the better he plays the better St. Johns will be.

Thanks.

Seen him Play only once.... But I was very impressed as will alot of you! Very heady kid, giant basketball iq, unlimited range, will have a tough time creating his own shot.... Slot better than Marco all around and I think he is next to go!!! 15-20 plus minutes is very likely!!! You all will love him ;)

people were saying his 108 in 5 minutes was edited and faked, so he took his iphone and recorded another 5 minutes of threes. . . this time 109

This kid can shoot. Plain and simple. Anyone still doubt him?

I don't think anyone doubted that he could shoot.

But will we routinely be able to get him as open as he is in the 3-point challenge videos? Too much to hope for, obviously, but just how open does he need to be? And can he get himself open?

I specifically remember Obekpa blocking two of Hooper's 3 point attempts during the Midnight Maddness scrimmage game.

Granted Chris is arguably the best shot blocker in the nation.

Let's just hope Max does some shooting drills with a guy with their hand in his face.

I recently saw a picture on his tweeter of two guys from the staff one with a large broom. He shot 500/625. Get some inside outside game and he could get some good looks, if Sanchez can pass as good as stated. Just a few more months and well find out.

So what Obekpa was the best shot blocker in the country.

The problem we had was getting the pass to an open man on time If you get it there 2 seconds late your spot of shooter is dead unless he also can go to the rim and create AS great .as Mullin was he did not have a quick 1st step but the team got him an open shot and made sure the pass was timely

Just like Marco was the next Kerr/Paxson type of shooter, anyone remember that one?
What happened? He bombed that`s what.

You can show me all the video you want but I`ll wait until he plays on the court to judge him.

I leaned when it comes to St. John`s to never get excited about good recruits coming until they play, only because of the damn ncaa.

Nice to see a steady and consistent shot. Reminds me of me years ago. I was fortunate to have plays, picks and screens which allowed me to get a shot off. I did not see that this year. Perhaps something will develop.
