The real disappointment is that, when this team gets down, they don't seem to get back up. That was the key to the wins in Brooklyn, so we know it's there, but we really haven't seen it since.

That's something I haven't really been able to say about many of our teams. Even when we had teams that got blown out a lot, like Mullin's first year, when that happened, it was usually because of a talent gap.

It all comes down to the players the coach chooses to recruit. We recruit athletes vs basketball players. If an athlete is also a basketball player then you are on the right track, otherwise you have low basketball IQ, players that are not good shooters, etc. Badically in one word the answer to all of your questions can be summed up in one word, Coach.
Not our case at all!!!
This team is not any more athletic than any other team in the conference.
Posh, Wusu, Mathis, Storr, King, Pinzon, Soriano, Keita, are not particularly athletic.
This team is overstated talent wise. None of our players are 1 on 1 threats.
You have to coach up this team and it is proving to be uncoachable.

They made a valiant effort in last 10 minutes vs xavier and kind of were in game tonight. SH game showed no fight

Every coach here, with the exception of Lavin's first class, took what they could get. And Lavin took his chances with that class, as it nearly fell apart.

Recruiting is a highly competitive and a dirty business. St. John's has no idea how to play the game. They offer 20 plus years of mediocrity, a glorified high school gym, and hope that somehow they will overcome those handicaps because they made the final four 37 years ago and the championship game over 70 years ago. So they get what they get. The swing man that can't shoot. The PG with no range. The big that's a project. A 4 star transfer that was not as good as expected at his first destination. Why don't we get shooters? The real question is why would we? When was the last time it was a part of the offense here?

First, kudos to a well coached Marquette team for playing end to end defense and making 16-17 foul shots which proved to be the difference in the game.
Their 3 point shooting % in the second half was better than their FG%. Their spacing was excellent and they easily got open for shots.

St. John's, on the other hand, lost focus at the start of the first half and within 3 minutes allowed a 14 point turnaround. The defense was totally disjointed and allowed open threes.
The offense was guilty of poor spacing usually seen on the CYO level. Guys standing around, ball handlers holding the ball too much, forced penetration attempts rather than kick outs. In short, an offensive mess.

Anderson allowed the Canadian kid to have his way when he should have had Stanley in the game to shadow him.
Instead he played Nyiwe who is not a strong defensive player.

This game was winnable if not for our horrendous defense and a particularly poor performance by Mathis at the two guard that continues to be our Achilles heel.
As we decline I would not be surprised to see more Pinzon and Storr at the two if they improve even slightly on defense.

The sad part is the team shot the ball well 2 of the past 3 games. When that doesn't happen, we can all get to sleep early.

I am not trying to make the same point over and over again but I will. At this level it boils down to half court defense and half court offense, We are well below average at both and have been that way since Anderson arrived!!!! The only reason why we scored plenty of points tonight is Marquettes half court defense is weal and their transition defense is non existent!!!!

While i am bummed we lost. i think the drum beats a little louder for CMA to be gone. Somehow hope Soriano can keep it together, he is the lone bright spot in a tough season
The second half he had 2 points. Also couldn’t hold on the the ball, 4 maybe 5 turnovers.
