It's odd, I'm not disappointed at all. But maybe that's because I had no expectation of the program being a top-25 team overnight. I suppose it's all about the expectations game.

As for the second point, considering that Pitino brought in every player on the roster except for two he chose to keep, if you're disappointed with the players then by definition you are disappointed with Pitino. You don't blame the groceries for the shopper who chose them. That's why you thump melons before you buy them.
I love melons

Prediction

There isn’t a convincing precedent to this game that hints to St. John’s winning a game like this. They have only won once in five road games, they still don’t have a ranked win, and they haven’t beaten Marquette on the road in front of their fans since 2019, but strange things always happen in the Big East. Butler, who trailed St. John’s for all forty minutes in their first matchup, beat Marquette on the road last month.

Still, St. John’s hasn’t proven they have the killer instinct to beat a team like Marquette in a close game. Marquette wins, 77-73.

I wanna be wrong so bad but don’t see us winning this. Not a great matchup as we struggle to stop dynamic guards and we’re going up against one of the best in the country.

With that said, the first Marquette game, is that the game where Alleyne went down early?

Hopefully Alleyne is someone we can throw at Kolek, especially since he’s like the only guy on our team that has more experience playing against Kolek, being on UConn last year

Alleyne is our only chance but he looked so hobbled last game. Jenkins was often so lost on the pick and roll he wasn't guarding anyone. It could be a bloodbath if that happens.

Maybe just keep throwing different zones at them.

Pitino also said @ Marquette is the toughest place to play in the Big East. I felt like that comment was an lessening expectations one, and that he thinks our @ Providence game is the game we can really win.

  • at Marquette - 81-71
  • at Providence - 79-66
  • SETON HALL - 73-77
  • at Georgetown - 107-74
  • CREIGHTON - 91-87
  • at Butler - 66-61
  • at DePaul - 91-66
  • GEORGETOWN - 99-59
7-1, comfortably in tournament.
I want what you're drinking! That would be great, obviously.

Either Alleyne or Dingle must complement Jenkins scoring and hit shots, a greedy person could say both. Just rebound Joel, don’t fumble ball, make post move or pass to open guys QUICKLY
That's really the issue and it's that simple. We hit 5 or 6 threes we win, less than that we lose, mostly.
