March Madness

the end of the interview seems to bode worse for a team like Texas and probably better for St. John's with 21 Ws.

Marquette remains a Q1 win- they stayed at #28 despite losing. That's because they kept the game very close. 5 Q1 wins it is!

Promising...

St. John’s (21-12, NET: 64, Q1: 5-7, Q2: 5-3, Q3+Q4 Losses: 2)

A 32-point loss isn’t the last data point you want to give the committee, but the Red Storm should still be on solid ground heading into Selection Sunday. Even after getting waxed by Marquette in the Big East quarterfinals, the Red Storm have five Q1 victories and 10 combined Q1 and Q2 wins. They could find themselves in Dayton for the First Four, but they are far more likely than not to be dancing.

This was my takeaway as well. In my opinion, the interview is a good sign. They are looking a lot at each quadrant, which no doubt would work in our favor. Our biggest issue is we have poor margins (which is why the NET is so poor vs RPI), however, we do a good job when it comes down to wins and losses.

Bad Bracket Matrix update:

http://www.bracketmatrix.com/

We are now the last team in, however we are nearly tied with Temple and Ohio St. 92/123 analysts have us in. We really killed our NET with that final game, otherwise I think we'd be much safer. NET is the only thing holding us back.

If RPI was still being used, we'd be very safely in. Every point matters and we didn't play that way.
Watching so many of these games around the country, alot of times all it comes down to is which team is hitting their shots. Players need less space than ever to get a clean shot off.

As you saw from our performances, how many wide open 3 pointers did we miss during our poor run towards the end. Marvin Clark missing wide open 3 pointers he was making earlier in the season relly helped bury us early in many games down the stretch. Same with Trimble. I'm watching all of these other teams hit those shots and win.
Trimble plays tough defense against non ball handlers. But, he is not a good shooter and, frankly, isnt even a streaky shooter.

Not sure Paul. “What have you done with your opportunities” doesn’t seem to be a good test for us.

"What have you done with your opportunities?" I interpret as "did you win or lose?". If they make this into a W/L scenario, we should be in fairly easily. The only reason we are on the bubble right now is because our advanced metrics (points differential) are brutal.
I wish all these games that may determine our future were on earlier.. very impatient right now
True. It’s going to come down to how many bid theifs there are. Not that comfortable being one of the last 2 in.

Not comfortable being last 2 in either, but we made our own bed. Losing record in conference.
Losers in 5 of last 7 by an average of 16.8 ppg. Three of those at home by an avg of 20.7.
We are fortunate to still be in the discussion. If Dayton is our destiny, take it and run.

Clearly he's hurt. Right SJU fans?
Well, he was in the tunnel getting his wrist attended to for quite a long time in the first half, so I would say yes.

Other then the second half last night, and about a 5 minute stretch of the Georgetown game, he has not looked like himself for a few weeks. They initially said hip pointer, but his wrist was obviously bothering him, too.
Missed the sarcasm
Yes I did. Always difficult to tell when reading the written word, for myself especially.
Written word is not Moose’s best mode of communication. You need to hear him do spoken word off Broadway. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate his interpretive dance abilities.

A month ago we were getting great crowds, great press and the tourney seemed like a lock. Hopefully we will get Dayton and make the best of the opportunity.

Houston is trying to gift wrap another bid for the American.

Led Memphis pretty much all the way, but lead is down to three with 42 seconds left, and they just committed a charge (bad call, IMO).

Man, it's so frustrating watching these games. Houston is completely collapsing right now.
