March Madness
Results from today:

Who to root FOR/against on Friday:
*WISCONSIN over Nebraska- WISCONSIN won.
*VCU over Rhode Island- Rhode Island won.
*MICHIGAN ST over Ohio St- MICHIGAN ST won.
*LSU over Florida- Florida won.
*UCF over Memphis- Memphis won.
*BUFFALO over Central Michigan- BUFFALO won.
*VILLANOVA over Xavier- VILLANOVA won.
*KENTUCKY over Alabama- KENTUCKY won.
*PURDUE over Minnesota- Minnesota won.
*NEVADA over San Diego St- San Diego St.
*KANSAS over Wvu- KANSAS won.
*MARQUETTE over Seton Hall- Seton Hall won.
*WICHITA ST over Temple- WICHITA ST won.
*WASHINGTON over Colorado St- WASHINGTON won.
*OREGON over Arizona St- Arizona St won.
*UTAH ST over Fresno St- UTAH ST won.

Pretty meh day at 9-7. If you went by Vegas odds, think the teams we wanted to win were favored in around 14/16 games. That said, not a disastrous day. Ohio St, Temple, Xavier and Alabama going down was important, as all were near us on Bracket Matrix. Hopefully Marquette can remain Q1/top 30 after their loss, but we'll see.
You spoke too soon, Adam. Arizona St. and Oregon are headed for OT, tied at 67.

Bill Walton meanwhile, just left to go to the bathroom. I'm not kidding, either.

Oregon vs Arizona St in OT on ESPN. If Oregon pulls this off, I'll edit my previous post.

Yep, I've started creating a new post for tomorrow's games, but will update the previous post if necessary. I'm pulling for Oregon... but just barely. Washington better win tomorrow.

Not the best possession by ASU there, when they were down 3, with about 20 seconds to go.

Oregon won, 79-75.

Oregon helps maybe burst ASU’s bubble but now we need them to turn around and lose tomorrow night against Washington

This may be the final day of relevant bubble games. Hopefully.

Who to root FOR/against on Saturday:
*AUBURN over Florida- Florida is the 2nd #11 seed.
*HOUSTON over Memphis- we want Houston so the AAC doesn't have a bid thief (AAC Semis).
*MICHIGAN over Minnesota- Minnesota is the 3rd #10 seed.
*CINCINNATI over Wichita St- we want Cincinnati so the AAC doesn't have a bid thief (AAC Semis).
*UTAH ST over San Diego St- we want Utah St so the MW doesn't have a bid thief (MW Finals).
*VILLANOVA over Seton Hall- we want Nova to remain a Q1 win. Currently their NET is #25 and needs to stay top 30.
*BUFFALO over Bowling Green- we want Buffalo so the MAC doesn't have a bid thief (MAC Finals).
*WASHINGTON over Oregon- we want UW so the Pac 12 doesn't have a bid thief (PAC 12 Finals).

So, there are no more teams still playing for an at large resume who are directly in front or behind us. We might as well root against Florida and Minnesota, because you never know, but assume they are in.

What really matters now is bid thieves. The AAC, Pac 12, MAC and MW all could still get a bid thief.

http://www.bracketmatrix.com/

They have us as the 5th #11 seed, so we are "in the field" by only 2 spots. 86/111 analysts have us IN. There are 6 #11 seeds because 2 are play in games.

If there are 2 more bid thieves, BM will have us on the wrong side of the bubble.

Keep in mind, this hasn't been fully updated yet with today's game. Nobody behind us will pass us, as Ohio St (last in) and Alabama (2nd out) both lost. Temple is 2 spots ahead of us, and Arizona St 5 spots ahead. Hopefully we'll pass Temple. They lost to #87 Wichita St, so I do expect to pass them.

At this point, at best we'll probably be playing in Dayton. Most of us didn't want to end up there, but it'd still be far better than the NIT. Let's hope for the best.

Everything comes down to tomorrow. We already know the A10 is producing a bid thief so that conference tourney no longer matters. Essentially there are 4 conferences left that matter. We need:

- Buffalo over Bowling Green in MAC title game

- Washington over Oregon in PAC12 title game

- Houston over Memphis in AAC semi final

- Cincy over Wichita St in AAC semi final

- Utah St over San Diego St in MWC title game

I think if we can go 4/4 here and have no more bid stealers we will sneak into a play in game. If there’s one or even two more bid stealers I think we are NIT bound
also, I can're remember a BE team with 20 overall wins not making it in ?
Our own team in 2013-14. We were 20-12 before the Robert Morris game in the NIT.

I have no idea how the committee is going to reward mediocrity ( St. John's, Temple, NC State and a number of teams just like them), or the mid majors (Belmont, Greensboro, Libscomb and Furman) who are all done playing.

Adam and Jack have it nailed. The remaining bid stealers are key to decreasing/increasing our chances of playing Tuesday night in Dayton. If you look at those games, Oregon looks dangerous as those San Diego State. I would be surprised if our old friend Bowling Green beats Buffalo. As for the AAC, I like the chances of either Houston or Cincinnati and if they both lose then I think then we would get in ahead of Temple. So at the end of the day, we are either going to Dayton or hosting an NIT game next week. We will know our fate in less than 36 hours.

My prediction

This is my script for this maddening season

Since we never know how this team will play off wins. Off losses. It would not surprise me one bit ( well maybe it would) for this team to win a play in game we probably don’t deserve to get off recent results. Then go on a run to the sweet sixteen or beyond. The play in games have yielded these kinds of results so it wouldn’t be a surprise for a team to do it again. Just for us to do it. So that’s why we will do it. Because with this team we have this year. Expect the unexpected.

Clearly he's hurt. Right SJU fans?
Well, he was in the tunnel getting his wrist attended to for quite a long time in the first half, so I would say yes.

Other then the second half last night, and about a 5 minute stretch of the Georgetown game, he has not looked like himself for a few weeks. They initially said hip pointer, but his wrist was obviously bothering him, too.
Missed the sarcasm

Yes I did. Always difficult to tell when reading the written word, for myself especially.

Watching so many of these games around the country, alot of times all it comes down to is which team is hitting their shots. Players need less space than ever to get a clean shot off.

As you saw from our performances, how many wide open 3 pointers did we miss during our poor run towards the end. Marvin Clark missing wide open 3 pointers he was making earlier in the season relly helped bury us early in many games down the stretch. Same with Trimble. I'm watching all of these other teams hit those shots and win.

Written word is not Moose’s best mode of communication. You need to hear him do spoken word off Broadway. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate his interpretive dance abilities.

not good vibes
Not sure what this tells us...
They say this every year. Most of the spots are decided by the weekend. Seeding and matchups can still change, based on results, and there is always the occasional bid stealer, but most things are decided by sometime this weekend, and things are usually a done deal by the start of games Sunday (unforeseen factors on Sunday can change things, of course).
