Absolutely incredible.  I have no idea as to who is even on the team anymore.  The train is officially off the rails.  We might be better and we might be worse but I cannot continue to support this program.  A lack of stability indicates issues are running deeper than we all imagined.  I really like CMA but not sure what the heck is going on.  I get these were not his recruited players but the lack of any stability bothers me.  Pittsburgh situation looks way better than ours presently.

I can help you there:

Posh
Dylan
Stef
Maybe Julian
Plus the 3 guys coming in as freshman. Not sure what is going on with the mid-year transfer.

Thanks.  Maybe SJ can drop out of the BE and just form an intramural league.

Fortunately, the new season doesn't start for about another 7 1/2 months, so there's a ton of time to adequately shape the roster.

We haven't been able to field a team capable of winning 1 NCAA tournament game in 20 years and now we are okay with only 7.5 months.  You understand why I might be a little pessimistic?

Who said anything about being "okay?"  I said there is a ton of time to field a roster.  That's a fact!

I understand you being pessimistic, but also you should be logical in your pessimistic rant (The winning of only one NCAA Tournament game in 20 years is a red herring).  That's all I'm saying.

My take is the "jealous" is the heavy ink POSH, Champ and CMA got this year and their awards and accolades. Remember Mullin recruited GWill and Earl not CMA, they had no true allegiance to him.

Say what?  30 minutes a game. He's at best a mediocre player who on a good team, might have seen 5-10 minutes a game.

it wasn’t a rant.  We have not won an ncaa tournament game in 20 years.  That is a fact. We currently have 3-4 players on our team fact.

Will poster(s) follow Marcellus out the door?
Asking for a friend.

Lets hope so Moose. Again do I like 7 transfers? No, but nobody we are losing other than Moore had the talent to even dream of a spot on a Big East 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th team

If we're stating facts, then you are factually incorrect.  We have Posh, Wusu, Pinzon, Traore, Stanley, Nyiwe, Smith and most likely Champaigne returning...

Honestly, outside of GW not disappointed in the ones transferring, they were below average BE players and we should be able to replace with better players.

Mentioning what we have or haven't done in the NCAA Tournament in the past two decades was irrelevant.  A red herring.  Fact.

We won't have 3-4 players on our team by the time the season starts.  Fact.

“We currently have 3-4 players on our team fact.”

Not fact.  We have 8.

Posh
Stef
Pinzon
Champs
Wusu
Stanley
Traore
Nywie

The sky isn’t falling.  Add a few impact kids and we can be everybody bit as good or better than last year.

This makes me feel a bit better.  But this is still a tough day.  Lost some kids I think most of us really enjoyed watching and were excited to see their senior year.

Sure Champ decision to help his draft status won’t include coming back to depleted team.....

This is not good

Regardless of what transfers CMA signs, and even assuming Julian returns, this crap just makes college basketball less enjoyable to me.    And its obviously not just Mike or St John's, its a systematic problem with the transfer rules, coach turnover, and the evolving options in the g-league and overseas.

Transfers were always annoying to fans, and the lure of going pro was always going to entice players that probably should've stayed in school.   But if half the roster stayed intact, I think a lot of fans could enjoy some level of continuity and seeing players develop.

this is different.  It's a complete roster turnover.

He was a guy who was looking at being a career backup. It should not be a shock that he transferred. Does it suck if you don't bring in an equal or better guy? Probably, but that still doesn't change the fact that the writing seemed to be on the wall.

There is no way Champaignie is coming back now.  All his boys are gone.  He is not sticking around 1 more year for a rebuild.

If Champaignie decides to return to college basketball, he is not returning to this team that will finish 8th in the big east.

What a disaster.

I agree Duke, not a chance in hell Champagnie comes back now. Program is in a shambles but what else is new.

MCNPA:

I remember you rightfully saying last off season that we need to constantly look to upgrade the roster. We seem to have gotten a route to do so now in one offseason. Best of luck to all the guys transferring but none will be hard to replace on a talent basis.

As Moose said we will be given the opportunity to upgrade the roster from the Mullin holdovers and the reaches we had to take to fill roster when CMA took the job. I see this as a win-win situation. To be able to upgrade the talent level in one offseason is unreal opportunity

While I really appreciate the contributions that Marcellus made to our program, I don't believe that his role will increase if he tries to transfer to a high major program. He is, at best, a 6th or 7th man as he was at St John's. While he can hit the occasional three, his real value is in doing the dirty work inside - defending, rebounding and scoring inside.

Marcellus does not have strong guard skills. He doesn't handle the ball particularly well. If he sees himself as a guard hoisting up three's left and right, someone is giving him bad advice IMO.

Regardless, I thank Marcellus for playing three seasons at St John's and wish him the best of luck in the future.

I agree Bill , the opportunity is there. Given what we have been through as program and as fans you can’t blame some of us for getting tired of the merry go round and having a show me approach to this.

Reading a bunch of grown men cry over marginal Big East players (save Williams) transferring is unreal.

I would expect this crying on a Days of Our Lives soap opera message board.

Hopefully Paul doesn't get a request from LMN Network to advertise hear...lol

It is a strange time in college basketball.  It sucks that we have so many defections.  BUT, I look at this year as a one-off, with maybe a unique opportunity for players who want to play more looking for the chance to do so.  Maybe it's a sign that they realize the coaching staff WILL upgrade and they see their prospects dimmer.

In any event, as has been said, good luck to all of them and thank you.

Now let's restock.
